my mother said they named me after merlin, the powerful and smart magician during king arthur's time. i thought it was unique but then i've known a few people with the same name also. but then, i have 2 names and i havent known a person with the same 2 names. although if you put it separately, my first name would be so ordinary. ^__^;;

Well, I was the second daughter, third - and last - kid. My father was Irish and wanted to name the baby Patrick or Patricia (He liked Pat or Patty). My mother wanted to name the baby, if it was a girl, Laurie or Lori. I have no idea where either name came from. Dad won and I was named Patricia (Patty) and they gave me Laurie as a middle name. But...my mother found she was pregnant when she was 41 and lo, and behold, I have a sister named Laurie now so she took my middle name. And no, hers isn't my name. Ironically, my mother's sister had a baby a month before my sister was born and named her Lori, thus my mother named my sister Laurie but they sound the same. What a confusing mess. But it all turned out fine. Except my little sister stole my middle name. lol.

I do not knoe if there is a meaning behind my name but I know exactly after who my name is.It is after one actor, who my parents really like, so they named me the same.Unfotunately I don't like my name very much, but still have to live with it.

My mom names me. My middle name is LeBerta. She wanted me to be named after both grandmothers. So she combined the names. Lee and Alberta. It is quite original. I got made fun of at school alot. But I think it is an honor.

Seems my name is popular mainly in southern US

I was named by my sister and mayor's daughter friend. They name me after prince Rainier of Monaco, but they put a little twist o my name to say Renier, instead of Rainier. Now, in the whole Philippines, I think I am the only one this spelling; Renier. There are other Rainier's in town, but there are no Renier's like me. Oh, except for our maid's son named after me.

Hello peanutjar, It was my mother who named me when I was a baby. No its not after any of my family members name. From what I read in books and encyclopedias, yes there is a meaning for my name. As to why my mom gave me that name I don't really know why. She said it just sounded good and the name fits my look when I was a baby. :-)

My parents who made my name. My real name is Rogellene Novo. It is a combination of my mother and fathers name. My fathers name is Rogelio. My mothers name is Rosellene. The Roge from my father and the llene from my mother. My nickname is not taken from my real name. It's taken from the every last syllables of my two grandmothers name. My nickname is Ciade. "CIA" is from HospiCIA and "DE" is from matilDE. I don't know if theres a meaning of it. What i've only know its only a name combination. But my family name "NOVO" means The New Beginning.

My father named me after a sassy character in his favorite novel... my real name means 'silken haired', and thats funny, because even before I knew what my name meant, my hair was long enough to sit on, and it was that way until two years ago. Fun question!!
