My mother in law is driving me crazy!!! I just can't get along with her. And to make matters worse, my husband is a total mommas boy! Am I supposed to get along with her, I grew up always hearing the horrible mother in law jokes?? Should I continue to try and get a long with her?? She's gonna be the reason I am admitted in the mental ward I tell ya!

May be just once try and put yourself in her shoes and think of the problem her way. She may not always be right, but sometimes, yes. Actually I have a wonderful mother in law, and the basis of my relationship was the fact that I never let myself think she is my in law. It was always mum for me, so maybe that helped. If she is as difficult as you make her out, just learn to ignore her taunts and actions. Silence is golden. It will kill her and preserve the peace of your mind. Pretend you never heard her. Listen from one ear and take it out from the other. Dont let it eat you up. Good luck friend.

Silence is golden, LOL. But it will kill her to preserve the peace of my marriage!!! :):)
I never really thought of it like that, and ya know whats funny is that I have never called her mom. I've always called her by her name. And ya know what she asked me once why I never called her mom, I told her that I didn't know, that I had just gotten used to calling her Shirley...

Ah the classic mother-in-law jokes..never thought they were real did ya? ;) I have yet to experience something like this, as I'm not married, and I currently get along wonderfully with my boyfriend's whole family. I would recommend just biting the bullet and try getting along with her. You love your husband, your husband loves his mom, you need to show him your respect and deal with her.
My boyfriend isn't crazy about my sister, but when he's around her, he tries very hard to get along with her, and that makes me feel good. :)

Thats the mode I'm in, me and Burto have been together for six years now. I have been able to do it till now. She has always been at a distance, but now she moved down here!! Like five minutes away!! Thats a little to close for comfort, she just shows up un annouced all the time. I'm not used to things like that, and she brings a hold bunch of people with her too!! :()AHHHH
