Why does crime against kids increases in rate

Offlate what i see in news are increasing rate in crime against kids. Either its kidnapping, or its physically assaulting, killing, etc etc. Is the parents of the respective children being little unaware and not that attentive of the happenings around their wards or its that society has become too bad due to media influences? Earlier the crime level was not this much and never it was this cruel, the news we see, read is really not digestable. How and why these things are in growing rate? Is there any corrective and effective measures to bring down these crimes. Share your views pls.
