This year the Autumn Festival will be in September 25 in China. It is the big festival here. It is also a traditional festival and it is just the second important festival than the Chinese New Year. It is sad that we don't have a day off in this special day. It is hard to believe that it is not an official day.

Hey, the Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated by the chinese here in my country too. While not as important as the Chinese New Year, it's still being celebrated. You would not believed the variety of mooncakes we have here. Besides the traditional lotus paste, red bean paste and egg yolks and mixed nuts, we also have cheese, green tea, tiramisu and even fruity flavored ones like durian, orange and apple, haha. What about in China? Do you have mooncakes variety there?

We have some new style mooncakes such as the green tea, however, I have never heard of cheese mooncakes:) It is a little bit like western style:)

Ya. they're getting more creative. I just read of custard with bird's nest mooncakes made by one of the hotels here. Every year they come up with something new.

We have lots of festivities here, every month, a town or a province celebrates festivals. I don't know if we have one coming here in our place, but I do love to visit places that celebrate it. Each province, place or town have their own means of celebrating festivals. It could be honoring their town's saints, it could be of the inauguration of that certain place and most of all, the special day their province was first named. The best thing here is, we get to experience what their town has to offer. From foods that is unique on their place, visiting each house that welcomes visitors and enjoy mingling with them and the street-parties!;)

To be honest, I don't know a lot about the official festivals of my country. Many of them are based off the Christian religion, which I'm not a part of. Other ones seem arbitrary to me sometimes, especially because I work in a bank and yet don't get many of the holidays off that all the other banks in the area close for. So half the time I don't even know it's a holiday. Autumn Equinox is coming up soon, and I celebrate that, but it's not something everyone in my country celebrates. It falls very close to my birthday, so I typically just take that whole week off work. Since I'm off work for illness right now anyways, that's not an issue this year, but I hope to feel well enough to do something for my holiday and my birthday at least. =)

Wow.What is the first important festival? Here in the States we have Thanksgiving. It is the last Thursday in November. It isn't a festival but it is a national holiday. Most of us have the day and the next day off.We get together and have a big dinner and most of us watch Football. The next day is the official beginning of the Christmas shopping rush .

The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. It is an important festival for Chinese. There is a disappointment that I can't go back home to spend this festival with my family. Maybe I will buy a mooncake for myself. It is allright that the National Day will come soon at the 1st, Oct. I will have a long holiday.

You are right. In fact the Mid-Autumn Festival should be spent with family because it stands for the union.
