Do you price per ounce or the actual price?

When you are shopping at the store and you have a choice between a few food items do you choose the one you are going to buy by the price per oz or the price you will have to pay for the package?
I almost always buy by the oz since I know I am getting a better deal per use. Sometimes there are things that we wont use a whole box of before it expires so I just buy what I need. I like to know I am getting the most out of each dollar I spend.

I try to buy whatever has the best price per ounce, as long as the total price fits into my budget. I don't mind cutting or shredding myself to save a few cents, and I don't mind having a bit extra to freeze or put away for later. As long as I can afford the package, I'll buy the best bargin.

I almost always look at the price per ounce and try to buy whatever's the better deal, even if it's something I may not be able to use before the expiration date, I may be able to refrigerate or freeze it and use it later.

I use my freexer more than my fridge to extend shelf life. I always check the price per ounce. I love it when the stores do all the math for you and it is right there on the tag.

Before they started posting the price per ounce in the supermarkets, I still calculated it myself in order to make an informed choice of which product to buy. My pocket computer has a calculator and also a history of what price I've paid at various stores for various items, so I use it pretty fanatically to get the best deals. I also look at the order the ingredients are listed in on the labels too, because a jar of something that has water as the first ingredient might weigh more ounces, but the ounces might not be food. It is hard to beat dollar stores for some food items! Yes, like you, I am thrifty when buying.

I tried to calculate the price per quantity befor the markets started doing all the math too. It was usualy a guess but I figured I was pretty close. I am decient at math so I love the numbers game of it all.

It depends on what I've got to spend and how much I actually need, you know? Since a lot of things I buy I only need in small quantities because I won't use it all before it expires/goes stale I probably buy more by the lower package price than by lower per ounce price.

I am pretty good at using what I have. I shop for the deal and then figure out how to make something out of it. When money is real tight I just get what we need to get by though.
