she's scared with thunder, when it's started to sound, she's screaming and crying for help, also with the noise of heavy trucks of garbage coming in our village, also with cockroaches and mouse..what about your child? thanks for the response..

When my girl just born, she didn't really like loud sounds. She will look extremely angry if there is loud sound near us. But now, she is already 3 years old, it's not really a problem for her again. So I hope your daughter will be fine in the few coming years.

My daughter doesn't seem to be like that but I have that attitude when I was a small girl. I also used to be afraid and scream when an airplane passes by and I hear its noise above. I cry aloud and feel so afraid of so much noise. But I have outgrown all these things when I reached my teen years. That's good enough, maybe because I feel more love and care from my relatives when they discovered I am different.

I feel so bad for your kid to be scared with thunder. This morning when I came back home walking upstairs to my apartment, greeting to my neighbour who was doing some laundry outside their door next to the stairs with her one-year-old baby playing with the water in the basin. The baby was so scared by my greeting because she didn't see me and was absorbed in playing with the water. All of a sudden, she started to cry. Immediately I patted the baby on the back saying, "Oh, baby, don't be afraid. It is me, your uncle. I am so sorry to scare you." Usually when our children are scared, we say so to them to make them feel better so that they won't cry from their dream at night. I wonder if you do the same?

I too am scared of things that I do not recognize at first. It is like walking in the night with a road or light to help you recognize a bit of the way unless you are familiar with the place. I find that singing gentle melodies or nursery rhymes can help a lot in soothing a childs feelings. I try to explain to kids what things are. Specially now a days they need a lot to learn. It also helps to be a good example. 8-)

Well even if I’m too old to be afraid of thunder or lightning but still I am. I always close my eyes if I see lightning because for sure thunder will come right after it. I sometimes lie down on my bed and cover my face with my pillow. I really hate to see it especially at night. My sister is number one in our family that is afraid of it. One time she slips from the bench she was laying because she was appalled by a strong thunder. I also hate cockroaches, rats and all that – I really run for my life when I see them around hehe.. but I don’t hate the sound they make, as long as I don’t see them it’s okay.

Make it a fun thing, oh..I hear thunder - lets go look out the window at the storm, same thing with the trucks..let's see if we can see the trucks. If she sees you are not concerned with thunder or trucks, she will relax. Cockroaches and mices...sorry can't help you there, I do not like them either.

Some children are more sensitive than others and need a bit more TLC. I would not like cockroaches either so she is not alone. I think it is natural for little ones to be afraid of things they don't know as that might be a way of them keeping safe. It is the children who are not afraid of anything that seem to be always falling off things etc as they don't see the dangers.

I am not a parent, but it has always been that way. Most of the children are scared of such things most especially the sound of thunder. I was also scared of thunder when I was a child. Thanks

When we had our God kids down, we had a terrible storm and they weren't affected by it in the least. I was pretty shocked but they kept right on playing as if nothing was going on around them. I was really amazed by them.
