Would you pick just making it $ for less hours, or extra cash for longer hours??

My husband works for UPS, he works pretty longs hours already. Leaves at 4am, and doesn't get home till between 7-8 at night Mon-Fri. He was resently asked if he would like to become a trailer driver which would be working on the weekend too. I said I didn't want him too, but he is leaning more towards yes. We live pretty much paycheck to paycheck, but we are making our bills fine. We just bought our first home, and it's been tuff getting used to going from always having alot of extra cash to hardly any. My mom says that her and my dads best times were when they were broke. I don't know I just don't think it's worth not having my family time on the weekend. What would you do?
