In our family 6 generations now has become a tradition to name our children's middle names after someone special to us in our life, whether living or dead. I named my daughter after my Mother and my son after my Brother-in-Law since my father was never around for me to know him. And my baby granddaughter is named after me. So are you named after someone special??

I was named after the British actress, Heather Angel. My mom said she would not give me the name Angel, however because if you named the child Angel it would act like the devil. Later she changed her mind and named a Christmas baby Holly Angela(Holy Angel) My parents made up a middle name for me. My granddaughter has my middle name, and a modification of a great grandmother on her dad's side, and also a great grandmother on her mom's side. I personally did not name my kids after anyone but themselves, that is what my husband and I chose. My current husband is Robert Louis for first and middle, and the family joke is that his mom was reading Kidnapped by Robert Louis Stevenson when she had him. Her middle name was Roberta, though, so I guess he gets it rightly either way.

I am named after my grandmother. Most members of my family have a middle name that is based on someone else in the family's name.

My dad named me after his father middle name, trouble is it was a girl's name although back in the old days it was classed as a guys name, I hated it and I never ever used it at school, I ended up changing in by going through a solicitor and I changed my middle name to one that I wanted!

My mother named me after the country and western singer Brenda Lee. She was a big fan of hers. So every christmas when that song comes on, "Rocking around the christmas tree", I will tell everyone that I was named after the singer.LOL

My name is Jenny, & I am not named after anyone in my family. I wouldn;'t have wanted my mothers name anyway (which is Peggy). My brothers second name is the same as my Fathers. My daughters second name is Edeline, & she was named after her paternal grandmother. It is German I belive, an old fashioned German name.

I named my kids after my grandfather. Joseph Scott. Their middle names. OK and here is the shocker!!!!! I was named after someone my mom did not even know! She pulled my name off of a gravestone in the area! I have been hearing it more nad more now so it is not at all uncommon anymore. I used to think I was the only one.

My first name is Annie and I was named after my maternal grandmother. My middle name Marie is my paternal grandmother. My sister also was named for for my maternal grandfather Alexander and her name is Alexandria. My brother was named for my paternal grandfather and my Dad, Edward....So I guess it will continue down the line somewhere, my sister only used the names as middle names.

In my country a lot of people name their kids after the gandparents my parents decided not to do it. Now the god parents when the baby is born give a list of names sugestions (often the list has the names of grandparents or variation of the name and also a name that the parents may sugest) the parents pick the name of the child from the list. My grandmothers name is Ljubica (or violet in English) when my mother was given the list the names included were Ljubica and violeta my mum didnt like me been name after her mother in law so she chose Violeta in reality there is no difference but it took her ages to realise that I was named after my grandmother anyway.

I just happened to have been named after an aunt, texas. All of my life the fact that my name is so unusual has been commented on. I had never seen anyone else with my name until my second youngest granddaughter was named after me. I consider it quite an honor. I only named one of my daughters for a relative. I named my third daughter after my great-aunt who raised me.

Since my father was a Gone With The Wind freak I was named after the character Melanie...When I was a kid that wasn't a very popular name, now it does seem to be...and I remember being glad of my name when that folk singer came out years and years ago...uh, Melanie..remember her?? Gee, what happened to her?

My mom named me after the lady in the next bed at the hospital when I was born. She couldn't come up with a name, so she looked at the other woman and said "hey, what's your name?" and lady said her name was Cheryl, and my mom liked it, so that's what she called me. Pretty bad when you have to ask the lady next to you toname your child. She really had no ideas on names.

Well, yes I am, named after someone. My aunt, talked my mom in to naming me, after Brenda Lee, the singer. My other aunt, wanted to be a part of the fun, so she wanted my middle name to be Kay, instead of Lee. So, therefore, I am only half way named after Brenda Lee.
