the best operating system

which operating system do u find the best... lets discuss it out Microsoft Windows is the overall best-known, and therefore the easiest to set up and use in an existing environment. It's also good for games, but quite unreliable and easily attacked unless you're sensible and use 3rd Party firewall software. Personally, wouldn't trust my life with one. Apple Macintosh: Perhaps the most disliked, and possibly the best work computer. 9.x is ideal for artists, especially in the advertising industry, whereas OS X leans towards programming in a UNIX-based environment with a friendlier user interfeace. Used badly, they're both as unreliable as Windows. Linux: It's UNIX, with a friendly face and a habit of throwing near-infinite options at you. Open source, it's easy to program and change and twist, but that just means it's easy to mess up, too.Difficult, but very good once you train it. UNIX: The command-line interface to rule them all. Difficult, unnerving, threatening and somewhat terminal (bad pun) for the newer users, often best avoided and kept in the administration rooms with the BOFHs. DOS: Windows uses this as a launchpad, but it's a good OS, if a little clunky, in it's own right. Probably the most reliable of all the systems, but impossible to do much more than play DOOM and use outdated accounts software on. Unless you can be bothered to learn more line-commands than UNIX. Personally? I reccomend a PC for Gamers and a Mac for serious types.
