Where are your favorite places to shop?

I live close to a Walmart but seldom go there even though I like it. My favorite stores are the dollar stores like Dollar Tree and Big Lots. I can't see paying the prices that the bigger stores charge when I can get the same item for almost half price. I often wonder why people say your paying for the name when you purchase a name brand because I get name brand items in dollar stores! That makes no sense to me. Sometimes I do like to shop in the malls because the choice of stores is always awesome.
Where is your favorite place to shop? Do you go to the bigger, well known stores like Walmart, Target, JC Penny and K-Mart?

I do wal mart for groceries and everyday needs, but I like TJ Max for special gifts and things you just don't find at the mass marketing stores like Wal mart and k Mart. I have to disagree with you about the clothing quality, at the dollar stores, they just do not stand up to a washer and dryer, or my family that works hard and plays hard. I do a lot of shopping on line also. There are bargains to be had if one just wants to invest the time to find them.

I think you misunderstood me. I wouldn't buy clothing at a dollar store so I wouldn't know what the quality would be like. You are so right about the bargains that can be found online. Even with shipping(which you can sometimes find free)the price is still better. I purchase my pet food online always and staying with the same stores they often give deals for "regular" customers.

I live within walking distance of a Goodwill Store and I spend more time in there than I like to admit. I got a couch and 3 living room tables there and didn't spend $100...including delivery charge!

My favorite stores are the places where I can find the bargains also, ctry. Family Dollar is my favorite of all. You are absolutely right when you say that these stores carry many name brand items and you pay far less than you would if you purchased them at the big stores. I buy everything there from household products, skin care item, light-weight furniture, clothing, and even some food items.

I buy a lot of food items in the dollar stores too. I'm especially happy when they have one of my favorite cereals for less than half price!

Pshaw. You consider K-Mart a Bigger store? I mean I guess they have tv commercials and stuff but we have very few Kmarts in Baltimore and very few people shop in them. I mean... certain uh, "types" of people shop in them. To put it nicely.
I shop at K-Mart for things like toilet paper and paper towels and cleaning products. I shop at wal-mart for clothes and food and dvd's..sometimes make-up and such too.
I shop in target for clothes and dvd's and because I just like to "window" shop in target.
I never shop in department stores. I don't shop in Dollar stores except for very few specific items. the closest big lots to me isn't that close so I rarely go to it.
Walmart, kmart and target are cheap and convenient. It's like the same reasons I go to Mcdonalds and Taco Bell over Wendy's and Burger King. They're cheaper and more convenient.

I only shop at fancy stores like wal-mart and k-mart and I only eat at high dollar dress up places like Applebees or Taco bell, So I am so far above this conversation I cannot even respond any further, hrmph
And I shop online like any civilized person with the store in my profile!

I love to go to Hobby Lobby, since I am really into scrapbooking and beading. I also really like shopping for clothes at Aeropostale, and sometimes Kohls. I like Walmart a lot, because I think they have a lot of things for pretty low prices. The Dollar stores I sometimes like, and sometimes don't. I guess it depends on if they have anything I want lol.

Well it varies for me because I only shop when stores have sales. I would shop at walmart if it was closer to our home but because it isn't I hardly shop there. Places like Macy's, New York, Footlocker and such are stores I shop at ONLY when they have sales. Now and then I shop at Ross's too if I can get a lift there. There are a few consignment boutiques downtown that I shop at also. Found a few dress shoes and a jacket there recently :) bargain prices too.

Unfortunately there isn't a Target any place near where I live and I don't drive so I don't get to shop there. I love ebay also especially since I'm a seller there.

Those big stores you mentioned sadly are still not around in our place, although some of them like JC Penny and K-Mart have already
opened in our country's capital this year. Anyway in our city, we have two malls that opened their doors to the public only last year.
In terms of my choice for shopping, I and my wife would still prefer
to do our shopping in a store outside of the mall. This store is owned by a relative of my wife, thus, we can have a rather enough
leeway when it comes to discounts in pricing.

I you paid $50 for a brand name jeans when the same jeans without a brand name were $25, then you would be paying for the name, but if you buy them after they've been marked below the usual or less than the usual price for brand name, then you're right, you're not paying for the name.
I like thrift stores and crafts stores. I also like the Mall. Walmart seems to have long lines that take forever here. We are supposed to get a Target eventually. JC Penny is OK when they have a really good sale. K-Mart I haven't been to in a long time. It seems like all the clothes and stuff never changes there. Take care

Hello ctrymuziklvr,
I live close to a Walmart as well. That is about the best store around here to go shopping on a regular basis. For bulk shopping, I go to Costco. There are two of those about 70 miles from me. So if it is a big shopping trip I'll go there.
For some of my shopping I shop at a grocery outlet store, they have closeouts at a decent and affordable price. The Dollar Tree is my grand daughter's favorite place to shop, but she is only 6.
Christmas shopping may include a trip to Shopko, Target, or JC Penney's. But my favorite is Macy's clearance racks.
Sometimes it is just necessary to go to a more expensive store. But I really need a truly good reason.
Happy posting..
