well, today is my birthday and so far i am not feeling happy at all...this is my most UNHAPPY birthday ever. maybe to some of you celebrating your birthday, it is the most wonderful day of your life. i am not even celebrating today. actually i even feel a little down and low...a bit depressed. maybe you're wondering why. i was just contemplating and i was thinking that another year has gone by in my life and still i am so unsuccessful. i ask myself, what have i achieved in my life? is there something in my life right now that i can say i can be truly proud of? bottom line is i am not happy with how my life is going right now that's why i don't think there's even a reason for me to celebrate my birthday. what about you? have you ever experienced this kind of feeling on your birthday? do you still celebrate your birthday?

My friend, first of all, happy birthday to you. Do not worry it is normal to feel blue on your birthday. Tomorrow the sun will shine again for you. It is normal to feel like that. Sometimes I don't even have to wait for my birthday - some days, out of the blue I would feel blue and miserable. All I need is a friend or two to talk to and I feel better. Enjoy the rest of your day!

thank you so much for your birthday greetings. I'm really sorry if it took me so long to reply on your comment. I've been quite busy with my son lately that was why i cannot totally focus on mylot. thank you also for your advice. you were right, I'm much better now. ('.')

Hugs & good day wishes.
What is going on in your life? Success does not have to be measured by salary or possessions. Are you loved by friends and family? Are there people who admire you?
I've had crappy days, but usually my birthday isn't one of them. I still celebrate it - I have kids who love telling me I'm getting old. :-)
You should celebrate because you're here for another year. Your birth has been celebrated by those who love you - this year should be no exception.
Celebration doesn't always mean a party - acknowledgement works, too.
I hope your day gets better.
Sherrie

thanks sherrie for those nice words. i really need all the inspiration i can get. the reason i was feeling low during my birthday was because i felt like my life is going nowhere...it's so monotonous now. all i do now is stay home, take care of my son, our dogs and the house. it has become so monotonous that probably i was getting bored of my life style now. anyway, enough of my sentiments... you are right. there are so many things that i have to be happy about during my birthday which i have neglected to see because i was so wrapped up with my depression. thanks again! Oh yeah. I am going to be 40 next month and I hate my life. I know I am going to be depressed so I am planning a trip to Hawaii, that is on my bday. It is going to be an extremely expensive extremely fun trip. Then Weird Al's Yankovic's manager gave me backstage tickets for the week after my birthday (and he is playing in my town) and I have been his fan since 14 (so I am thrilled!) and a few months later I am going to Italy. After this I plan to start having "work" done little by little.
The point is, yeah I still celebrate. HARD.

yes i've exeperieced that kind of feeling i was kind of unhappy a bit. But when you think about it this only happens once a year. Your birthday is a one day ticket to something you wanna do the whole year. I mean its a day "its your day" do whatever you want. Im sure you can't think of any but to make it easier do something you wanna do. Success will go along the way i gaurranntee you that. Just work hard and don't down yourself too much . .

Pshaw. Every birthday since I was about 11.
Not really but.. my birthday usually falls on memorial day weekend as my birthday is the true memorial day. So people, my entire life, have always been away on vacation or whatever and off school and such that my birthday was never a big deal. Plus I think once you get to about teen years birthdays start to suck.
My birthday this year was particularly bad because I turned 25 which I wasn't happy about in the first place. I had to work and I asked them not to acknowledge it and they did and i was mad and upset them which made me feel worse and blah blah blah.
I'm sorry you're feeling down. I think you should just do something that you enjoy to make it feel a little better.
have a good one!

Yeah, it already happened to me... This year actually
My birthday was on May, 26th and NOBODY of my family was here for all sorts of reasons
Most of them went to a wedding of my mother's boss' son
My boyfriend had a wedding of a cousin of his
And the other members of my family were too busy
I was alone here until my friends called me to go out hehe They were the ones who saved my day!

I had the same situation 2 years ago, it was my birthday and I am very depressed.
I feel so empty. My girlfriend left me for another guy. Am not happy with my job, and my friends simply greeted me. I feel am not important to them at all.
You see, during their birthday I make sure, that we celebrate their special day out of town, like going to the beach. Am doing this for like 3 years. But then when it was my turn, nothing. It was just a simple greetings.
It was my birthday,I was also posting how sad I am, in a message boards.
Someone from the message boards reply to me. And she told me that she will pray for me.
Now I get use to it. I am just telling my self that maybe, its my role to surprise people during their special day. And I should not expect anything in return.
THat way I will not get hurt.

yeah i know what u mean...i have my own share of unhappy birthdays....and it doesnt juz happen once but many times in fact...its the realization of being unsuccessful and not doing much for my life and for lack of improvement that i could go down low to self pity and depression.
i know its very hard..being in that situation myself..but, that's life...we cant always have what we want...as some say, life is unfair, while some people out there is happy, there are also some who's bound to be not...and vice versa...
but who knows that maybe such time is not our time yet..there will be instances where we will feel on top of the world...we still have a long way to go...but whatever what we have right now, while still living and kicking, we only need to be grateful and appreciative and thankful of what we have...
life's not only about success anyway...life's not only about richness, and material things..life's more than that... =)
by the way happy birthday...i pray that u will be happier soon and get to the point where u can say that u are indeed very happy...we all have our times...juz don't give up...never quit, stand up and go on living... =)
take care always i wish u all the luck and happiness in life.

To be honest even if i dont have party on my birthday im still happy coz its a new year added to my life... There is no reason for you to be unhappy on your birthday. ccdrewchat,
you are not alone, i celebrated my bday last august 6 also being more depressed than ever. I dont know, somehow, my life is not going as what i planned, and yes financially i'm drained and can't think of ways to make more money for the monthly expenses, expenses are pilling more than ever. And to think, I'm nearing 40 where life supposed to start but i feel its ending. I want to be positive but most of the time, negative thoughts prevail and i'm more depressed than ever. I hope this will pass and not enter into depression stage.
I just celebrated my birthday with family and close friends. No fancy affair.

i know what you mean. my birthday's next month and to be honest, i'm worried if this year's birthday won't be as amazing as last year's. even now, i'm feeling the way you are..unsuccessful, and i feel like i have not achieve anything significant this year T_T ..but anyways, i do celebrate my birthday every year. this year will be no exception. on my birthday, i'll try to put sad thoughts aside, and look forward to the celebration/dinner that i'll be having with my loved ones. priceless companions that will make me happy on my birthday. that's what counts the most for me, on my birthday.
happy birthday to you! i hope that you won't feel so depressed. cheer up k? you don't wanna feel blue on your birthday:) ..i hope that you'll have an awesome birthday, no matter how you celebrate it. take care and enjoy yourself^___^

Yes i have. This year i did, in fact it was just last month. Not really the same reasons as you though. I was going through a lot of family problems so it was a bad birthday. It was very depressing and i was very emotional. I didnt even want to think about the fact that it was my birthday. I just couldnt quit crying, especially when someone wished me happy birthday. Im sorry to hear you had a bad birthday. I hope it gets better for you. If you ever want someone to talk to just pm me. =)

the one reason that can make me unhappy on my birthday is if i'll be celebrating my birthday without my husband, because he work overseas and most of the special occassions, like birthday, christmas, valentines day, and so on, we cannot celebrate together...
