I have only watched 3 of these movies and to be honest, I felt that they were lacking. I know the books are generally better than movies right? But I fought the urge to pick up Harry potter because I guess I thought they were kids books and I was too far above them. Well..... didn't I fall of my high horse or broom so to speak (hehe). This little boy I work with is in love with the series and he kept bugging me and bugging me and then he let me borrow his book. The First one of the series. Now please know taht i had only watched the first and second movies and then the most latest where Dumbledore and Voldomort battle it out Jedi style (lololol-I was waiting for Yoda to pop in and say "Albus use the force") ANYWAYS!!!
Since reading the first borrowed book I had to go out and buy my own. I bought the Adult version because they look classier on my book shelf. Yeah I'm a book snob. But anyways, within 2 days I am now engrossed in the Goblet of Fire.....
What I want to know is what hooked you? How'd you become addicted? Man, Rawlings writing is like Drugs, it is so very addictive. She has such a way of dragging you in there and wanting you to see what happens. I can picture everything happening in my minds eye. I love these books!
Why do you love these books so much?

I'm still the old you and have no desire to read the books. I was totally put off by the first movie - it just seemed stupid to me. My brother and sister have tried to "convert" me and have a hard time believing that I have no desire to read the books. Maybe one day I'll need something to read and I'll pick it up, but for now I have plenty of good books to read that interest me.

It was lack of good reading material that drove me to pick up the books in the first place. Well that and the nattering on of my little friend, sigh, he is a good kid though. Anyways... but they aren't bad. I mean they aren't the best thing ever I'd still pick my Robert Jordan or Salvatore or Dragonlance over Potter anyday but they aren't bad.

I love the books for the same reason, it is like wow.
I was so inthrawled in them that I had a hard time dong anything for three days but reading. I don't know my kids are 5 and 6 and it is like they understand eevrything that happens in these movies, kinda scary if you ask me.
I read the books as they first came out, and was disappointed, not too bad, with the movies. It is the fact that the books are always better than the movies.

I actually first ordered Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone from amazon in order to complete a project in an adolescent lit class that required me to read a book that was on the banned book list and write a censorship paper on it. I thought it would be an easy paper because Harry Potter was witchcraft and evil. This was the beginning of November.
At Christmas, I got books 2-6 and read them all within a week. I got Book 7 at 12:20am on the day it was released and read it all that day. I've since then read it again. I've read the entire series twice, and 1-6 3 times.

Harry Potter is just one of those cultural phenomenons I don't understand. I think it's great that it made kids read and good because it has helped bring a lot of folks into the bookstores, but for me, it just doesn't hold any interest. I did watch the first movie on TV to see what all the fuss is about. I guess because I don't get into fantasy writing, it doesn't appeal to me. I'm glad others like it, but I just have to say, Harry who?

I have never read or watch any of the Harry Potter series. The only thing I know it was written by Ms Rawlings who is from Europe. One of these days, I might read or watch one of the movies, but for now its foreign to me. I don't understand the addiction.
