Are there any healthy snacks for dieters?

Today I was reading that certain low fat snacks like pretzels aren't really good for dieters, because they're just empty calories. That's kind of bad news for me, because I love pretzels. Anyway, now I need to find another low fat snack that would take the place of pretzels or high fat potato chips. Does anyone have suggestions on types of snacks that someone on a diet could eat? It doesn't really have to be a crunchy or salty snack, just something to hold me over in between regular meals. Would appreciate suggestions.

Hello there. I personally love chocolates but i try to only indulge in it once or twice a week. For other days, I will eat snakes like raisins and nuts (macademia, almonds, etc). They are definitely healthier than potato chips and pretzels. Do give it a try. =D

Well.First I must say that keep diet is such a hard thing!Eating is a wonderful thing to me.=.=/// Ok!Now,let me introduce you a good way to lose weight. The lunch adds the yogurt body is healthier.Surely do not despise the yogurt, this finishes eating the lunch regarding these takes a seat no longer moves in front of the computer,is easy to cause the digestion not to be good or the fat accumulates gose to work the class says,is extremely beneficial. The after lunch now and then the lunch drinks one cup of yogurt may let go to work the class relaxes the mood, too. That's all .Good luck!

Well I notice others have already mentioned them but I was going to say Rice Cakes. There's always fruit as well of course. Personally I find bananas to be the only satisfying snack type fruits. Apples etc just don't really do it for me I'm afraid. Or things like pumpkin seeds which are really good for you and taste quite nutty. There again of course there's just plain nuts - obviously not roasted or salted. They're really good for you although you can't eat a lot because they can be quite high in calories but they do fill you up. I tend to snack on brazil nuts.

Hi beauty queen. I like to snack on frozen fruit. Grapes are very good frozen. They also take care of the sweet craving. strawberries and watermelon are also good frozen fruits. I like the watermelon because you can put salt on it for the salt you crave.

Well there's always all those 100 calorie packs. http://www.kraft.com/archives/brands/brands_nabisco100cal.html South beach diet/nabisco/Kraft brands. I recommend NOT to get the granola bars. Blech! But like pretty much all the nabisco packs are good. Quaker Granola bars (just not the 100 calorie packs) are pretty good or at least I know that the Oatmeal Raisin ones are 90 calories. http://www.quakeroats.com/qfb_OurBrands/BrandDetail.cfm?BrandID=15 Rice cakes... http://www.quakeroats.com/qfb_OurBrands/BrandDetail.cfm?BrandID=12 quaker mini delights ... 90 calorie packs. http://www.quakerricesnacks.com/?q=products/tastyflavors That's all stuff I personally eat. I like them because they're good for you and they are small and fit in my purse for lunch! You have to read them though because they're low in calories and trans fat, but all depending on your diet they aren't always the best in terms of carbs and/or sugars. There are some other brands out there that have 100 calorie packs as that's kind of the "in" thing right now. Like http://www.fritolay.com has some 100 calorie packs of doritos and stuff too. But I've personally never eaten them. You can get a lot of these things at walmart for decent prices...and I've found them on sale a lot at my local grocery stores. some ideas besides the typicals of fruits and veggies that everyone else has said!

The dreaded snacks between meals question...dun dun dun hehe I'm just kidding. Snacks between meals are great because they help keep your metabolism going as long as you don't over do it. Snacks I went with when I lost 30 lbs were things like grapes, carrots or 100 calorie snack packs. Those things were a life saver. I also enjoy granola bars, but watch the sugar on those guys. It's all about portion control really, and keeping yourself in a healthy calorie intake. To little calories is just as bad for your body as to much. :) I still have about 40 more pounds to go, but snacks like that really pulled me through the first time I lost weight.

I like to snack on fresh cucumbers and veggies, but don't take the skins off of them because that is where all the vitamins are. And apples are the same way. You can make a dip out of low fat cream cheese, and or rach dressing but don't use a whole lot as they are full of calories.

Wow, that surprises me about pretzels too. I always thought that they were a great snack when dieting. I have just started purchasing those 100calorie snacks that you see all over the place. They are good and when the bag is empty, that's all you can have for the 100 calories. I bet that they are just empty calories too because they are like sunchips and cookies.

I think some fruits could be the healthy snacks, stuff like fruit bars or fried fruits as well. Sometimes I snack on nuts and those are pretty healthy and are suggested for people who are dieting.

Well, really if you are just looking for something to tide you over between meals, there is nothing at all wrong with pretzels. Not every calorie taken in needs to be a nutritional powerhouse. But, if you want it to be something more nutrient dense, try fresh fruit, a handful of almonds, or some lowfat yogurt.
