Hello waygamit, I think the most widely used internet browser worldwide is Internet Explorer. Simply because it comes built-in with the Windows operating system so most users don't have to install it. It comes pre-installed when you buy a new computer so that's why I believed its most widely used.
Another fact if you read PC World, Internet Explorer heads the list of top Internet security attack targets in the most recent joint report of the FBI and security organization SANS Institute. One reason: As the most widely used browser, IE provides the biggest payoff for malicious hackers who set out to exploit its flaws.
I am actually using Mozilla Firefox and Opera as my browser. :-)

Yah you're right. But Internet Explorer has noted to have lots of inconvenience.
1. IE 6 does not render png image files correctly. The png image is not transparent compared to the other browsers when rendered.
2. IE 7 does render png images correctly but most of the users worldwide find a hard time installing IE 7 because of the Microsoft's Validation Scheme. So other people stucked in IE6.
3. Some IE 6 browser doesn't support tabbed browsing. I don't know how this happened but I find other IE 6 to have tabs but others have nothing. Compared to the other browsers, all supports tabbed browsing now.
4. For some web developers, they find it hard to code html with IE 6. It may look good in firefox but when rendered in IE6, it was all messed up.
I think that's all I can think of right now. You may add to this discussion if you have complaints or issues with this writeup.
By the way, I like Mozilla Firefox. No problem at all.

Hi, welcome to mylot. Well, if we are going to ask about the most popular and widely used browser, then the answer would be internet explorer. It is already common to have internet explorer in each computer because it was already pre-installed the first time you have bought it. So definitely, it would be the first and main browser that you will use. Mozilla, opera, netscape, safari, etc., are among of your secondary choice only, just in case if you are not satisfied with your present browser.
That's it.
Have a nice day and God speed!

Based on the global usage share data from some web statistics software like ADTECH, Thecounter.com Global Statistics, OneStat.com, Net Applications and others starting from 1999 to present, the most used web browser or widely used browser generally is the Internet Explorer (either ver 6 or version 7), followed by Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Opera and Netscape Navigator. To know more about this finding, specially the percentages of usage of each of the browsers by quarter or year, please visit this link -
