Anyone ever been president of any kind of club?

I have just been informed that I need an agenda for my first meeting Wednesday morning for IAAP. (International Association of Administrative Professionals)
I was voted in as president of our chapter, involving 3 campuses last summer. Wednesday will be our first meeting and my predecessor has graduated and as wonderful of a woman as she is, she has basically left me holding a bag that I know nothing about.
I'll be pulling and old agenda from one of last years meetings that I attended as a member (so I can use the correct format), and will be looking up the "Robert" rules for conducting a meeting, but what in the world do I put on the agenda???
Lost and looking for help and ideas as I tread uncharted waters....

It is always good to start a meeting with a prayer, Introduction of yourself if you are new then review, So you can put those as agenda topic, then list the things you need to review as an association. You also need to get informed about what has been happening in your group so If I were you, Review will have to be participated by all the other officers under you, they need to give you a report of what they have had for the past say quarter. After reviewing, comes the planning, what are your plans for the next quarter, or year or future plans for the organization. The details will have to get assigned to officer in charged. Open forum should come later for you to address concerns of your members. I hope this helps, Have a great meeting madam president.

We have all new officers. All the old ones have graduated.
The first meeting for this semester went well since no one new wth they were doing, lol.
Outlook for next month's meeting looks bleak to say the least. I have to travel to another campus...OY!
It will be fine, tho. This isn't the first time I've had to "wing it" lol. By the time I turn this office over to someone else, it should be smooth sailin'.
Thanks for stopping by, Perry.
I'm always glad to see you.

Years ago I was elected President of a group called Parent's Without Partners. I didn't really want to run but myself and my friends weren't happy with the people who were so I decided to give it a try. I had been a member of the club for years and was always on one board or another. I never had a problem coming up with an agenda because it was really always an easy forum for everyone who attended the meetings. Not knowing anything about your association I couldn't come up with anything that would be of any help to you. I'm sure you will make out fine. Good luck!

I managed to wing it.
I'll be better prepared the next meeting even though I will have to travel to a strange campus to do it. Thank you for the good wishes. I didn't really want to do this either, but after I met the President of the entire state's professional chapter, and she seemed impressed with my speaking skills, I decided to go for it.

It seems odd to me that the President is "informed" to come up with an agenda. What about a chair person? Do you not have that in your organisation? I didn't realise it was the President's job to come up with an agenda.
Anyway, if you must, shouldn't you have an idea of what the meeting is for, and then form the agenda around that/those issues?
I've no experience with this organisation, but I am in a non-profit and the last agenda we had was made by someone who was not the "president" but maybe they do things differently with IAAP. Good luck with your meeting!

We have no chairperson, unfortunately.
Vice President, Secretary & Treasurer are my officers...some of which I have not even met to date, but this is the first meeting of the school year. Apparently in backward-ville Marion, Indiana, that's how we do things. I ended up pulling an old agenda from a meeting I attended last year, and it was by our former president.
Basically, I copied hers and updated the info and names.
Hopefully someone will have some new business, because all I have for that is an upcoming educational conference in Indianapolis next month and to ask for ideas for fundraisers.
Thank you for your input, I will ask my adviser why a chairperson has never been elected in our chapter.

I had been a president of our young professional's group at our church too, though at first I dislike it because I know the responsibility is big but I try to look at it as an opportunity too to serve God and serve others. It's not easy and it took a lot of my time but it's all worth it.

Thank you for your moral support, cefaz, I appreciate it.
I'm no stranger to public speaking, but having a bit more guidance would bring my "nervous-wreck" level down a bit, lol.

yes, i have been elected as President on my College years to govern all Psychology students from 1st yr - 4th year. Its quite a difficult job. But if you'll think about it, its also good for you because you are helping other people with their development.

I know I and many others will benefit from this experience, plus it looks great on a resume. I figured out the agenda and the meeting went well for a group who was all new...the old officers & most of the members have graduated, so this is a whole new group. Hopefully I can get to recruiting and the next president will have an easier job. Thank you for your input.

I was once president of the model making boat dancing club...but since I was the only member I had to be other members stand ins and create some cardboard cut outs so that the club looked very official and full up with members, we had great fun laughing and joking with my cardboard cut out friends....ah the good old days of being crazy!
