What is wrong with this country? I'm a Filipino. For several years of being a teenager, politics is the main problem why this country was named as "The most corrupt country in the world". Fortunately, they made a "mistake" about that. But for me, I think our country is really the one. Why?
I think, there is a reason why our country is the worst. For example, the 2010 elections. Just like the past, people have already talking about this. Its only 2007! There is still 2008 and 2009! Three years from now, people have already decided who to vote or who to cheer on. We should focus first on how to het back on our feet. And try to be one of the world's most competitive. But I think, we have done it already. We're competitive. In corruption. We're always at the bottom. Bottom on rankings. Not only in stocks, but also in sports. You know the reason why our country is no.65 in the world of basketball, is because of politics. I still don't know why we were disqualified last 2005 with no reason at all.

well, we cannot blame the citizens of this country if they have decided as early as now who they want to vote for in the 2010 elections. people want change and i think that with the coming elections they are wishing that this time this change will come. in my opinion, we shouldn't rely in the politicians for a good change. i do not trust the government too for this matter. and as cliche-ish as it may sound, i would reiterate it once more. politics is dirty. lol. but this thing is what i'm sure of: our country will become a better place when we attain change. and i do believe that change happens first with us. discipline. that's one thing that we need for change. if we turn to be disciplined people of this society, i believe that the rest will follow. who knows, even corruption will be erased from the vocabulary of this country? amen? :)

It's very difficult to find a good leader for the Philippines now. There was at least decency before and many government officials and employees were still ashamed and afraid to do bad things in the open. But now, it's the other way around; it's now those who do good who are ashamed and afraid to do such good in the open. The President no less is the leader of lip service nowadays and good actions are just mostly done to cover up the bad deeds, well still a sort of shyness. I just hope that lesser evil would take the reigns in the next Presidential elections by the year 2010.

Well, let me tell you things are not like that just in your country. I'm from Argentina, one of the most corrupt countries too. Or at least we were during the 90s. And our presidential elections will take place on october this year. Most politicians started talking about them years ago too. Once they get power, they start thinking about how to stay in their positions or how to get higher. The funny thing is that just know we know who are going to be candidates. What I absolutely hate is seeing all the marketing behind the elections. I hate seeing how they spent lots of money on posters, pictures, and all that paraphernalia. If they gave 10% of that money to charity, many people would be saved from dying because of hunger...
