Is it safe to eat these?

Ever since I got food poisoning over 10 years ago I've been really weird about food and germs. I have to put food away right away. If it sits out for an hour I throw it away. I know that's excessive but that one incident really freaked me out. So last night I pulled a bag of shredded carrots out of the freezer so I could make carrot muffins but forgot to put them in the fridge. So they've been sitting out for about 12 hours now and are all thawed and room temperature. Would you eat them? I know it's just a carrot and there's probably nothing in there that could have spoiled but I'm just not sure. What would you do?

Yeah, they'll be OK to eat. I don't think they even compare to the likelihood of going bad like chicken or something to that equivalent. And carrots don't have to be refrigerated all the time like other usable bags of veggies.

I would eat carrots. They really don't even need to be refrigerated. I wouldn't hesitate at all and I am really weird about eating things I think could get me sick. They keep those types of things on salad bars for hours with no problems. Of course, you could toss them to be 100% safe but I can't imagine what would be wrong with them especially if they were bagged.

Yeah, I agree with the posts here. Carrots and other 'hard' veggies don't really need to be refrigerated. Unless they smell different I think it would be safe to eat them still. I have also been food poisoned (not a very good thing to experience). Now our family is also very careful, specially with anything that has milk in them, plus washing food very well and making sure they're really cooked to the bone. Though we sort of like the sashimi (raw fish) we make sure they're fresh and bought them from a trusted source. =)

I would toss them out. It is better to be safe than sorry. How our ancestors lived without getting food poisoning is beyond me. Remember how they lived and think about our habits of tossing out food.

Since I've had food poisoning several times, I've gotten into the habit if anything that is meat or dairy sits out more than a half hour or hour I won't eat it. Breads, fruits and veggies I don't worry too much about b/c they seem to be harder to spoil. If it was me, I'd go ahead and use them. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I'd use em. Carrots don't usually go bad sitting at room temp, even if they're cut or shredded. Besides, you're going to be cooking with them. So if there's any bacteria growing that should kill it. And if they are "off" you'll probably smell it in the muffins.
