stop thumbsucking

Hi,everyone i have a two year old that suck his thumb. I used to be a thumbsucker my self as well as his farther. My mom put hotsauce on my thumb when i was little and i never suck my thumb again. You tell me how should i stop him from sucking his thumb.

He's still young so no need to worry too much but instead of doing something that can hurt him try having him (or you) draw something special on his thumb with washable marker and let him know that if he sucks on it it will go away. If HE does it, it will make make him cherish it more and he'll want to keep it. or a sticker or something like that, I hope that helps.

Why do you want him to stop? If he was older than I would be worried but a small child finds its security wherever he/she can. I truly believe he will stop sucking his thumb when the time is right for him. I am sorry your mom put hot sauce on your thumb, you would have stopped on your own.
