I've had an account with Etsy for 9-10 months. Although the site has had many views, nothing has sold. Am not anxious to make a fortune as my craft is not always in demand. Other Etsy folks, are you doing well on the site? Thanks, Carolbee

What sort of craft or handmade items do you sell? I haven't ever really pushed my crafts so it's my fault for not doing well on Etsy. Thanks for responding.

I sell bookmarks, cards, gift tags, crochet items, and some scrapbook die cuts. My name there is the same here. What do you sell?

I don't even know if I have an account with them. I should check it out and see if I do. My crafts are only used for my family and friends as gifts. I know they appreciate the time I have spent making them. There was a time when I would have loved to sell my items, but grew tired of making them in bulk and gave up on it. Good luck to you.

If you had an account with Etsy, you would know when they send you a monthly bill....lol What kind of crafts do you make? Thanks for responding.

I know that over the summer, Etsy has been a bit slow. I personally haven't sold anything since mid-August. I anticipate that things are going to pick up shortly, as Christmas approaches, but some people aren't quite thinking Christmas yet. If you'd like to PM me your shop link, I'd be happy to look at it and see if I can recognize anything specific that might improve your sales. Granted, I'm by no means a top seller on Etsy, but I have read quite a bit from the top sellers, and know a lot of the tricks to help your store do well.

Thanks for your feedback. My craft is made with plastic canvas and it's just not much in demand. Seems to sell better at craft fairs. Most of the items I make are my designs and I simply "wing it." Haven't sold one item on Etsy yet. Right now only have three items listed. Had more but guess my old memory took a nap and I forgot to renew. They were removed as a result. Listings are under the name Izphun. Thanks again!

Good luck to you, carolbee. :) I have not achieved success on etsy. But, I do not promote my shop at all. I have a store on ebay that I promote. Again, best of luck to you. I am fineartist on Etsy, too. :)

Hello fineartist, I haven't been successful at all on etsy. I don't promote mine either but my craft is really not something everybody likes, wants or needs. I enjoy working with plastic canvas so it's more a hobby than anything else. Good luck with your site. I will look you up on etsy. Thanks, carolbee

We have been on since June but didn't start posting items to sell until July. We have sold 5 items. We sell jewelry and I have since added some scrapbooking items and I know that those two things are quite common on Etsy. It can be frustrating. We personally have been on the forums quite a bit and done all the things that Etsy recommends. Everyone says that around Christmas it gets better. Sorry, I wish I could help you out more...

Thanks for your comments. I appreciate any help I can get! I haven't pushed my items since I would make them anyway because of my love for the craft itself. Find it very relaxing. Posting on Etsy was really more of an experiment just to see if the craft appeals to others. Have sold more at craft fairs. Good luck with your site and upcoming Christmas season.

I have a shop on Etsy for a little over 2 months and it has been okay. I've made a decent amount of sales and each month it has increased. So it's been a good start. I do promote as often as possible and I think it has led to a few of the sales. I also promote my Etsy shop (and ETSY itself) at craft shows and in as many forums as possible. It takes a lot of work, but it also takes work to earn some money on this site. So I guess I'm doing okay on Etsy, so far. I'm not putting a down a deposit on a Rolls Royce anytime soon, but it's pauing for itself.

Am glad to hear you are doing well with your shop on Etsy. How do you promote your shop at craft fairs? That's a great idea. I'll have to look for your shop next time I'm on the Etsy site. I am guilty about not promoting my crafts. Don't have much confidence in the items I make but enjoy working so much with plastic canvas that I won't find another craft that would be more profitable. Thanks for your response.

Hi Creationsbyrobin, Thanks so much for your response. It was a goodie and gives me an idea of what to do next. I don't "push" my site which is a big mistake but then again some of the items I make are creations that can't be sold online. Example: Sesame Street characters. Afraid I may get into trouble so it's best not to post them. Items I design and make are on the site. I do ok at craft fairs. If you have an interest in seeing my Etsy shop, it's listed under Izphun. Items are plastic canvas and very washable. Thanks for the valuable information, Carolbee

Carolbee- I hand out business cards with ETSY banner and shop info on them. I also hand out flyers with a larger copy of my shop and business card size copies of other ETSY stores info on them. My items are really anywhere some of the high-end items on Etsy, but I do okay selling them. That in turn, helps me build me reputation on the site and gives potetial buyers some confidence in my work. There have been some dry stretches- going w/o a sale for a couple of weeks, but as summer turned to fall, I've noticed both an increase in people viewing my items and sales. Don't be shy promoting your items, you never know when a potential customer is looking for something you make or just a unique item. Once you get a little momentum going, your shop just might take off! Good Luck!
