PowerSlam Magazine - One of the mags I have worked for, for many years. I am not in the UK but they are.
I am a writer both freelance and hired on a regular basis and have been since I was a teen. I LOVE it and I could write constantly (and sometimes do). Writing has changed a lot and the markets are flooded but the net has opened up a lot of opportunities that print can't give. But print pays a lot better usually. I don't need motivation. I just write. I guess it is in my blood. I am never at a loss for something to write about. Good luck to all writers!

Nice to know that you're a strugglingfreelancer, while I'm worst since I'm a frustrated one!;) There are lots of writers here, though I don't see the one's I met and knew here anymore. As of now, I'm doing my best to practice proper writing here. The english language has lots of varieties, that I make sure I use the most suitable word to describe my feelings. My motivation in writing is, the experiences I have throughout my life. To share them, educate people about "reality" and inspire them if ever possible!;)

You'll never find out how many freelancers there are around here, but it's an interesting quesion. I'm motivated mostly by ideas. I'm trying to increase my earnings (part-time only), but if a subject doesn't interest me, then the money angle doesn't work very well. I write all over the web, including my two blogs. I have one Squidoo lens up and am working on another one. I hope to get enough good ones written that they can eventually bring in some passive income.

*raises hand* another struggleing, frustrated, underpaid freelancer here, sharpening the lance I got for free. :) I am complelled to write but some unknown inner demons that won't let me do anything else. I don't know why I write, or what motivates me, I just know that for me living without writing would be like living without breathing.

I have been a struggling freelance writer for three years now. Before that I was a person who dabbled in freelance writing. There are quite a few of us here. I write because I have to. I was writing long before I ever considered sending anything out, and will continue to write even if I never get paid for my writing ever again. It is just a part of me--I am a writer, I write. Hopefully, that makes some type of sense to you.

well i'm not really a freelance writer although i'd love to be one too. it just takes me too much time to write because when i write it's usually pages and pages before i get to stop myself. Hahaha. That's why i have pages and pages of unfinished stories everywhere in my room. *sigh* I dunno when i'll get them all finished but if i do get them finished and published i'd probably be rich. Hahaha. Hopefully. ^_^ But i still have to edit them and stuff of course and that would take some time too. *sigh*
