I'm very interested in learning a programming language preferably in web development such as PHP and ASP. Is it hard to learn? How long do you think it takes for newbie like me to learn any particular language?

Hi ameyrp. A programming language like PHP is very useful. If you want to learn PHP you should read a lot and try to understand. Also you must put in application what you have read and try to make a website in PHP. ASP is a .NET program that is harder to learn.

I'm already well-versed in basics such as HTML and CSS. I know enough to install or setup any content management system such as Wordpress, Drupal or joomla on my own. But I definitely wants to learn more core web programming PHP and MySQL in order to do everything on my own instead of relying on other people's ready-made solutions.

hi, if you really want to learn web programming do not depend on the code that you see on books... try to explore on doing crazy things... learn the basic, try to do simple things in your own codes... if you can do it? do another codes that are more complicated for you... be honest on your codes... always focus on your goal to make a peculiar site... start with HTML browse on it. explore.. know the bugs of it.. then after that know the tags that can be manipulate your system... try to do learn databases.. start with Ms Access then if you are familiar with the functions of it. then you can learn a higher languages... like PHP, ASP,.Net, MySQL,Oracle. enjoy exploring your programming skills and you will learn easily.

hi.. i prefer using php.. it's easy to use, cross-platform...and best of all open sourced ....which means, it's free... well, you need to start out with html.. then build from there...then you can add css and javacript then jump off to either php or asp... love php... been using it for nearly 6 years... hehe...and i do earn money from it...:-D by the way, there are so many resources available online

It's not so hard. I think that you should have creativity, the rest it's not so hard
