Good for you! I've written several scripts as well. I would love to read your scripts sometime!

i dont have time to finish them. i wish i could. south africa has a very poor grasp in the filming industry. its extreme drama. or overly common comedy.

Thanks for this very interesting topic. I'll check out the book and the web site. I live outside Philadelphia where there hasn't until now been much call for this sort of thing. But there are now BIG plans in the works to put some studios here. Apparently, the area has the architecture and locations to film backgrounds for a wide variety of projects. They think it could rival Toronto as an alternative to California for filming and there will be a need for screen writers here.

Well I've never done it but ever since I was a little girl scenes have played in my head. When something would happen I would always think how that would go good in a movie and would exaggerate it and it's always a comedy. I'ts good for you that you have the talent to actually write it on paper.

I have never done this type of writing before. How did you get started? Any advice for me? I think it would be interesting to try and write a screenplay...or maybe even just a scene (to begin). How do I get started? Are there any books or websites you can recommend? I understand that Zoetrope has a lot of screenwriters on their site, but I have yet to go over there. Good luck with your writing, and I appreciate any information you have to share.

There are lots of classes you can take and so forth. I went to film school and majored in screenwriting so I have a degree in it. My favorite screenwriting book is by Blake Snyder and it's called "Save the Cat". You can get it on Amazon or Barnes and Noble. I could help you or give you lessons though. Also, I recommend this consultant at www.dialoguequeen.com she knows her stuff. She could help you I'm sure. good luck.

I've recently (few weeks ago) started attempting my hand at screenwriting. And you know what? I love it! Not to say I'm great or anything, but it is pretty fun trying. I love writing anyway, so it's natural I guess. I've tried writing for a horror and action oriented movies. I've only written individual scenes though with an overall story in mind. One was a zombie movie and the other was an action anti-hero kind of movie (like the Darkman movies). I love using the program Celtx. It's pretty good if you are a beginner.
