How important is your mobile phone?

A report says the long-term cancer risk of mobile phones cannot be ruled out. Will this change the way you use yours?
A major six-year research programme has found a "hint" of a higher cancer risk from mobile phone use.
But the UK Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research Programme (MTHRP) did rule out short-term adverse effects to brain and cell function.
Is your phone vital for your every-day life and work? Or could you live without one? Would you give up your phone for health reasons? Are you worried about phone masts close to you?
Personally, I'm not very much attached to my mobile phone. In fact, unless I really need to text or call someone, or use the alarm, it's tucked away safely in my bag. I have heard about the health issues regarding mobile phones and the brain but I heard if you place your phone on your left ear instead of the right, there is no risk at all.

Well if you ask me, mobile phones are not that important for me but I also consider it as a necessity cause you really going to need it in times of trouble or emergency.

i myself don't use cell phone ofen, in fact i just ust it as watch or alarm clock. i really hear of the harm of the mobile phone. But everything has two sides, such as computer ,it is amazing but it also do harm to us .So maybe we can find a "du" ,by the way ,it is a chinese word ,which means a kind of balance, we can use it to make our lives convenient and it won't do harm to us.

These days mobile phones are getting so much important that I couldn't think of life without mobiles.Mobile vendors are also adding more functionality and services which are helpful for their users. So for me its very important in every sense.Ofcourse it has some disadvantages but then I think its all over, even with the computers....so I am less bothered about those.
Cheers!!

I don't see how putting it on your left ear would have less of an effect than on your right, man, sometimes science makes no sense.
At any rate, I use my cell phone a lot. Mostly for work, but I talk to my friends and my sisters as well. I like to text, too, but that costs a bit more.

Hi soulsister_16! If I say that a mobile phone to me is as imporant as the air I breathe it would be an exaggeration. But definitely a mobile phone to me is like a best buddy who reminds you of your appoinments, helps you to organise things and remember important contact details for you. I am always on the move and contacts are very important to me as a Marketing Professional and a mobile phone is a great help to me.

My phone is very important to me as if its my life.. But i'm not much of a caller of my phone but just sending of text messages most of the time.. Whenever i'm free, i will just fiddle with the functions of my phone.. There's once whereby my gf took my phone away and i felt so helpless.. haha

I agree that using mobile phone frequently will cause cancer due to high frequency radiation. However, I can not leave my mobile now. I addict to it. I use it to converse with friends, to check emails when I am still in bed and read electronics book etc.

I think using mobile phone sensibly is the need of the hour. Yes, to be frank, I can't live without one. I am into business and am always busy receiving calls on my mobile phone. But of late I have found a better way to get these calls diverted. I have a land line installed in my office with am operator to take care of it. And I avoid giving away my mobile number to too many people. Anyone wants to call for business purpose uses the land line phone. If it something urgent and personal then they call me on my mobile phone.
I believe human life is important and we need to find ways to keep it in good shape.

My mobile phone is a very important tool for me. Actually I use it for entertainment more than communication. As my mobile phone is a smartphone, so that I can watch movies, read books, play the games... It is a good thing to kill the time when the computer is not nearby me.

Yes mobile phone can be harmful for excessive usage. But then its one of the most important thing you cant leave behind. And its one of the most important invention of the modern time. It gives you free access to call emergency 24/7 without the hassle of looking for paypones. And all infos can be kept on the phone freeing you from unnecessary and expensive gadgets. Its one of the gadgets you'll hardly leave home without.

My cell phone is not that important to me either. I make alot of people mad sometimes when I don't answer and I always say "15 years ago everyone got along without them". Is there really that many important things to say that can't wait till a later time. I see people answering them doing dinner. I find this rather rude for other people at the table. This is why answering machines were invented, right? These days most everyone has one strapped to them somewhere. I think people need to slow down and enjoy life a bit more without all of the technology.
