Big Bear Lake Fire, Sept. 2007

Anybody here live near the big fire? We live in Lucerne Valley, just below it. We can see it coming down the mountain on our side, and the tankers dropping water and that pink stuff. I hope everyone is okay. Let us know.

There have been a number of really wonderful people offering to help. One man said he could take eight to ten people in his home. Others offered to take horses etc. It's great how people come together during a disaster. (Too bad we don't do it all the time.)

I have been close to wild - in Australia we call them bush - fires on a couple of occassions, so I know what your going through, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and others in the area.
I also hope everyone is okay.

Thanks, mipen. I just looked up at the mountains behind us and I didn't see any hot spots, which means they've got the north edge of the fire under control. We hope the forecasted winds don't send it down into the town next to it. If it can be held back for two more days, there rain on the way. We hope.
