whenever i'm looking for newspaper clippings about our agency, i would always go over the comic strips and read all of them! some of the strips i love are -
calvin and hobbes, bratty little kid calvin, with his imagination bringing to life his stuff toy tiger hobbes,
life in progress, about a loser boy named zeke who cant court the girl she loves because she is being courted by a monster-looking, incredible hulk-looking sasquatch, and he would just always imagine that he's a superhero battling the villains like sasquatch the monster, LOL
kiko machine, the best one for me and which comic strip i collect, is about university life and student lives often exaggerated and features a lot of interesting funny characters with a usual expression of "hardcore" and "rak'en roll",
pugad baboy (pig's den LOL), about a neighborhood whose residents are all super fats and the only thin people i see is a teacher in pugad baboy academy and a witty annoying maid named brosia, the characters often talk about political issues
and Brenda Starr! about the smart news reporter just like lois lane but without Superman. ^__^
and a lot lot more like Ben, Hagar, Full House, The Far Side, Beetle Bailey, Toks and Moks, etc.
What about you?? ^__^

I'm much into local comics, like our very own "pugad baboy."
I love it's theme and plot, a political sattire that somehow resembles a typical filipino life. It may be put into deeper subjects, but if you'll focus and think about it, you'll understand what it means. I like the humor, the truth behind it and the simple vulgarity behind it.
One thing I also like was Xerex, I always read them everyday, especially when I want to go to the bathroom!LoL Hahaha!

its not a comic strip! as far as i know. comic strip has drawings right? and i dont think xerex's column would be allowed to put pictures there. LOL

LOL that's funny. usually i'd rather read the comics too than read the news. i'd rather be happy than be concerned with something serious. ^__^

I usually just read pugad baboy...(omg the keyboard here has almost no labels on the keys)...I always enjoyed reading it because of the familiar setting (we are no small size back at home)...and we also had our own version of Igno, the exconvict (supposedly good when he came out of jail)...but I only wished we had a taliking dog...heehee

polgas is a bulldog (i thought so)...i mean Polgas the dog, not polgas the pest...I really enjoyed Pol Medina Jr's creation, we even had some of the books which is a compilation of the comic strips in the Inquirer of Pugad Baboy...and I'll know it if a person is someone I can really get along well by his/her reaction while reading Pugad Baboy...kung hindi natawa, patay, mahirap to...hehehe

yes i read comic strips in newspapers but what i really hate about them is that they are only strips and only mention a chunk of the big story. thats why i ahte it. i love to read all of them although they areshort sometimes i understand what the comic strip is saying sometimes i dont because of the very little information. sometimes they are good and sometimes they are corny but i do read the comics in the newspaper.

It is one of my daily routines to read newspaper after breakfast. If I have lots of work to deal with on a particular day I then read it during breakfast. I first come to the tops news and follow by the current importance affairs. Lastly I enjoy reading my favorite articles like events which are related to amusement, sports and tourism. It normally takes about 30 minutes for me to read the daily newspaper but it is worthy as I always could learn a lot by doing so.

I am not especially fond of reading comics now...however, I enjoy the comic strip supplement of the Phil. Star every Sunday...there's Archie and Verononica, which is my favorite ever since I was a young girl...and the rest like kid calvin, Beetle Bailey, Popeye, etc. When I was young, I used to read tagalog komiks...this could be the reason why I can speak and understand Tagalog better than children these days...my children never read those stuff I used to read when I was young...well, the good old days....

I used to, when I lived with my parents and they got the paper. But it's been years since we got the paper. I usually read Garfield and peanuts and Cathy and Blondie...and uh... I think there were a few more. Once in a while I look them up online, like Garfield, because I was always a huge garfield fan!

I used to read comics, but as the way we recieve news have changed and i cannot remember last time i bought a paper. But maybe this is a good idea for the 9 o'clock news, lol. Actually i think it would be nice to have one comic storry finishing nes of, as it is quiet depressing as it is now. The could have a daily George Bush blopper :)
I used to love strips with Garfield, Charley Brown and Haggar the Horrible.

Wow it's nice to know there are Pugad Baboy fans here.
I love Pugad Baboy since it started. I collect the comic books.
I love all characters, but my favorite would be Brosia. She likes to make fun of Dagul. Hahaha. Also, the "war" between Barbie and Tomas.
Other comic strips I read: Garfield, Far Side, Hagar, and Beerkada - also local.

Theres a free newspaper thats put on all the buses in our city called metro and they have a comic strip called nemi. I love that strip! it makes me smile every time i read it lol. I also love calvin and hobbes too, that kid is just so funny! It gives me an insight into what my daughter might be thinking too which i think is always a help lol.
I dont think i read any others very often other than those two although occasionally, I come across a dilbert one and read that but i dont find it as funny as i once did. I dont know why lol

LOL yeah, calvin could be anyone's kid! smart but sometimes annoying. oh, this reminds me of dennis the menace. sort of like calvin too right? ^__^;; at least what they do may seem bad to adult but not to them because of their innocence on things. ^__^
maybe dilbert darted off your taste that's why you dont find it funny anymore. i felt like that with a comic strip called.. hehe.. i forgot what its called. LOL

I used to love Fred Bassett, but I can't for the life of me remember what paper he appeared in. He was a lovable bassett dog and it always made me smile reading his adventures. I also like the Perishers and Snoopy! I don't tend to read papers now so I don't see the comic strips nowadays so I wouldn't recognize any of them now.

Oh yes! I love my comics and they are an integral part of my early morning newspaper-reading ritual. I used to love Modesty Blaise and The Phantom a lot buy my newspaper has discontinued both of these. Now I like Peanuts, The Wizard of Id, B.C., Luann, Hagar the Horrible, The Dagwoods, Garfield and my best: Denis The Menace. They all have been part of my growing up and my morning is just not the same as them.

With all the shocking news one reads in the daily paper, I have to say I always look forward to getting to the comic section! I like Calvin as well, and some others in the paper are Zits, For better or worse,Hagar the Horrible, The Phantom, Broomhilda, Wizard of Id. Makes for easy reading after all the doom and gloom!

I like reading calvin and hobbes too. I miss Beerkada...
I used to clip sunday Star comics because of calvin and hobbes and one other comic strip, i forgot what it is. haha.
But nowadays i don't get to read much of any newspaper so i guess i'm not a fan of any new comicstrips.
