has any one else been ill like this?

Hi, my boyfriend has got a really really high temperature, chills, weakness and is feeling very very unwell. Then yesterday a red rash appeared and has now spread all over his body. It's quite itchy and he looks just awful. Does anyone know what this could be, or has anyone experienced this. I'm quite worried.
