I have a problem with this question - define "best" - what does that even mean? We're all equally important as engineers, aren't we?
People have said EE because the growth factor - though the same can be said about CE.
Then there's an ME person saying they're the best because they can do anything - but in reality, if you sign a document because "you can do anything engineering" you're putting your name on the line. If it fails, you're done - license revoked! So can you really do anything? wouldn't you rather be a professional at something anyway?
I'm a CE - I love my job. Do I think it's better than others, NOPE! Because my project will not work without any of EE and ME input!

I guess it's the best engineering major...in there they will teach you all about engineering...fundamental engineering...
It also called Integrated Engineering...You'll know about IT, Mechanic, and Electronic in Physical Engineering..
YEah maybe you Wouldn't know the detail of all major but you 'll be the bridge in communication between Electronics, mechanics, Informatics Bachelor...best for be the Project manager right??

I'm a Mechanical Engineering student and I would say that our field is the best. Of course every engineering field is a best one. But in Mechanical Engineering, we know about ECE's, Civil, Industrial, etc. We can analyze electric circuits, Trusses, accounting, etc. All these can be than by a Mechanical Engineering major.

I think the best one is ELectronic Engineering. No doubt that every engineering field has its own importance but Electronic is the most rapidly advancing technology. Electronic is playing a major role in economies and its scope is increasing day by day.

It depends from the meaning "best"? If it is best in terms of the potential earning abilities, it is probably software engineering. If it is in terms of the potential employment prospects, everything related to High Tech, is fine. Manufacturing jobs will be outsourced, but Research and new product development will stay in US. And, mostly, it depends on your personal preferences. I am Mechanical Engineer. During Internet boom, almost all my friends with the same background switched to Software. Some of them still there, some of them came back. For example, my wife, Microbiology Engineer by education, worked as Software QA engineer, got a descent pay, but got out of the business, when Internet bubble collapsed. After 3 laid-offs in 3 years, she just left High Tech for Medical field. BTW, any engineering, related to Medicine, has a bright future.
Good Luck. I like Engineering, even thou my current responsibilties lay now more in business field. I hope, you will like it too. And this is the most important!

I would say industrial engineering, there you may select fields such as logistics, product design and development, project management, industrial finance, quality assurance, computer programming, electronics, etc. It's a curriculum to train future project managers and entrepreneurs.
