There has been a great amount of attacks on smokers and I believe it is about time we stuck up for ourselves. I don't understand how government officials can make it illegal to smoke in public places such as outside or in designated smoking areas when smoking is a legal activity.
I refuse to eat at most restaurants that prohibit smoking or go to a bar/night club for a drink if I can't smoke. Why should I spend my money in an establishment where I am made to feel uncompfortable?
Now there are hotels that prohibit smoking. You pay a lot of money to rent a room, you should be able to enjoy yourself more than you would at home for the prices they charge.
Many things causes cancer, including but not limited to stress, and I choose to smoke. However, I take many vitamins and exercise every morning so, according to my physician, I am extremely healthy.
If I am forced to quit smoking, would the stress of it give me cancer?
If these people want to make it this difficult to smoke, then they should make it illegal. If it weren't around, it would be easier to quit.
About fifteen years ago researches stressed that margerine was better for you than butter but not it has been determined that the opposit is true. Recently, I heard that smoking can decrease the liklihood of getting Parkinsons disease. Soon smoking may be healthier than not smoking.

I dont really think that government officials can make it illegal. Even if they did thats not going to stop people. Do all hotels where you live prohibit smoking? Where i live they have smoking and nonsmoking rooms. And they both cost the same. I havent heard that smoking can decrease your chances of parkinsons disease. Thats interesting, i will have to check it out.
I know i read that hillary clinton said if she gets into office that there wont be smoking allowed anywhere public. I myself think that smokers outweigh non-smokers. I dont think she'll ever get into office. Smokers are not going to go vote for her if they know she is going to try to do this. At least i dont think most of them will. I guess we will just have to wait in see. I think thats against your rights though.

Each time I go to a pub is unbearable to breathe in those places. Even so there are some days, like Christmas time, that one has to and to accompany relatives and friends that come to visit you. Simply I feel we the non-smokers are discriminated by the smokers.

Sweetie, All anti-smokers are not evil..
I quit smoking when my Da had his first surgery for smoking caused cancer.
I watched him suffer and then die..
When I encourage people not to smoke it is out of love not wanting to control anyone's lives.
I do agree that smokers do have rights. They have to right to smoke because they are adults. But they do not have the right to endanger others.
The problem with smoking in public places is that some people due to circumstances can not avoid these places. I myself do not care to have smoke in my face. I have med issues that make it difficult for me.
I have many friends that smoke. Some of my adult children smoke. Most agree with these new laws and feel their habit should not affect others. My friend M says "It's my bad habit..It would be childish of me to insist I have the right to blow smoke in someone elses face"..That is a quote she told me to use.
I think some smokers just hate to be told you can't..I'm not saying all..I have noticed that one person in my town is screaming about his smoking rights is also the one that refuses to put on a seat belt although it's the law..Sometimes we just are a fanatic looking for a cause.

Smoking is not allowed in public places since non-smokers have also a right to clean air...it's really an option...smokers' rights end when the rights of non-smokers begin, that is, the right to clean, smoke-free air. It's an option to smoke...nobody is stopping you. However, so as to respect other people's option for clean air by not smoking, their rights should also be respected. You are not forced to quit smoking. Smoke as you may, but please spare others who are non-smokers. If you think smoking decreases the likelihood of Parkinson's, go ahead, smoke! I guess it's as simple as that. You can even convince people that smoking is healthier than not smoking. Let's count how many non-smokers you can convince. But count me out...I am not a smoker, and I'll never will.

i am sure that you have heard many times news regarding about this matter and i know that it has been emphsized in school's or even on streets that smoking is extremely dangerous to you health when abused. i know we are old enough, we even know whats good our health. though i am not a smoker, well i have tried it before but it is not really my thing that is why it didn't till this time, i do not really know whats behind the taste of smoking why people stick on it or made it as a habit or even has been addicted to it. all i can say is that, since we are getting older every year, our senses, organs and physically aspects are getting weak we must learn to stop our bad habit slowly until it will banish. i know when smoking gets worse it will lead to cancer and i hope you'll change thing as soon as you can because i am worried about your health. health is wealth you know.. lol
good luck.

hmmm well i dont smoke..but im not against those who smoke..it's their prerogative and rights..but do you know that when you smoke you also endanger those that are around you??secondhand smoking is more dangerous..hmmm so we better smoke than get it from others??hehehe joke! anyway, if you get stressed becoz of those prohibitions, then stay away from places that prohibits smoking.find somewhere else to puff. go to bathrooms, or stay at home for that matter..hehhee well, smoking really causes a lot of decease..one is cancer..it makes you look older too..it dries up your skin..among others...hmmm but as you say, you're extremely healthy .. maybe just now. what about your lungs?have you had it examined??do they still look good? well, anyway, that's only my opinion.. ;p

Is seems that USA government stricly control the smoke in the public. Some of you may say it's for vote's sake, but it do ensure most people's health. However, if something are over dealt with even for good purpose , the results may turn to be bad. IT's not fault to forbid smoking in the public, the fault is the government treat it so seriously! NO POLICY MAKER SMOKE?

Smoking is really bad for your health. You have to quit it. I smoke before, but now, I quit it. It's hard. You have to try it.

I am in agreement with your discussion. I also smoke, take vitamins, exercise and have LESS stress in my life than lots of friends who do not smoke! I do not like government interference with us citizens - it is a conscious choice to smoke or not. I prefer to be the leader of my own band.

I think it should be a choice. It's not legal to smoke so why should those who do be limited where they smoke? What happened to "RIGHTS". People know of the risks and if they chose to do so, they take the risk! I DO! It's my right! There should be no one telling anyone what to do with their own body. Last time I checked, that was the american way to make your own choices.

I understand how you feel. In fact many of my family members are smokers. However, after I had my first son my views on smoking changed. I don't want my son to be exposed to second hand smoke. Before I had him I didn't have a problem being around people while they were smoking, and I still don't have a problem with people smoking. However, I think smokers should have the respect for little children and not smoke around them. Smoking is a personal choice, and you have every right to smoke if that is what you choose. But be decent and respect other people's decision not to smoke.
