My husband/boyfriend has the hiccups. He has had them off and on since 5:00 AM and it is now 11:30 PM. They are the bad earth shattering hiccups. They make his whole body jump. I have tried everything to help him get rid of them and nothing is working. Any ideas?

I have a few remedies I hope one of them work. Hold your breath, plug your ears and swallow 3 times, usually this works. Here is another one. Fill a small cup or glass with water, lean over the sink, stick your chin in the water, now drink water from the far side of the glass sort of upside down. You will probably spill water thats why you do it over the sink. This works too. Also you can try to suck on and eat a teaspoon of sugar, I don't know if that works or not. Good luck, the hiccups all day do not sound fun.

Tried these. We found out today that hiccups and MS can go together. Did they come from this? We do not know.

We tried everything and Thank God they are finally gone. With the rib injury, it made the hiccups tramatic. It has beenalmost 3 days now and he is going strong for the most part.

I hope his hiccups are gone by now. Poor guy. Those really strong ones HURT! When I get the hiccups, I take deep, slow breaths through my mouth until they stop. Sometimes it takes more than one try, but it always works.

He fell last week (thank you for Multiple Sclerosis) and bruised his rib. So these hiccups for him are tramatic. They have been gone for about 3 hrs now. (Knock on wood)They were gone for about 3 hrs this morning so I am not looking for miracles. I'll keep ya'll posted.

My man always try ti scare me and really works for me.Also I hear to take a spoon of sugar or took a 10 little sips of any liquids. But I think if he have it so long , he just go see a doctor.I hear if the hiccups last so long, it can be some problem there.Hope he will be ok.

He did finally get rid of them. Took almost 3 days of 'off and on' hiccups.
