Can you really get paid to do what you love?

This is a question that I've been pondering for the entire three years that I've worked online. Can you really get paid to do what you love? Forget the idea that you can get paid for no work or little work at all. Working at something you love never seems like work at all. Don't you agree?
Most days when I am building websites or updating my blogs, I don't feel like I'm working, even if I spend several hours at it. But, I have wondered if it's possible to really turn your past time hobbies into a lucrative profession. What do you think? And, have you been successful at doing that?

Hey, it's a long way to make it. Every person has limit vigor and energy;just devote yourself to one thing that you really love and is worthy of your effort.
No work can pay you back at the very beginnig. Setting websites and updating your blogs are of meaningfulness, at least more people are getting know you, which means more opportunities hailing on you.
A hobby can be a profession, simply or difficultely. But without passion and persevrance, you surely are doomed to fail.Anyway, good luck!

Although it is not a hobby, I absolutely love my job - and I am paid quite well for it. I am a CPA, and I thoroughly enjoy it. I was drawn to accounting years ago and pursued a carreer in it. I know I am fortunate to be able to do something that is fun for me and get paid very well for it.
I also have a part-time business with my husband, working from home. I also enjoy that because the rewards are more than just monetary.
Like the others have posted, follow your heart.

Well I think you know me enough that I am actually making some money with my online businesses and websites and stuff. But it's not enough to live on those. The thing is like you said, I don't feel like "working" when I am working on something I love, so I spend time here and there and I even sacrifice the weekends. I am happy to get paid and I believe it takes time to be really successful and I will keep on working towards my ultimate goal. I am just happy that we could have this internet platform and be wild about what we love *winks*.

Hi Beautyqueen, for me it didn't work, and I tried, believe me and not for a few months or an year, but almost for 3.5 years. It took me not only this long time, but also a lot of money wasted along the way as I not only wasn't earning enough but had to put other moeny into it, but it didn't work. I only lost the time and the money, and gave it up.
It will be wonderful if it worked though. It wasn't meant to be, and that's for sure.

We all have our passions. Our own activities that we enjoy doing. But what is far more better than earning from what you love doing. Successful business normally starts from passion. It is what they wanted to do out of life. So success was never too far. And they were happy all throughout.

I guess it's possible, but it could take a lot of work to find one that pays enough for what you are doing, and one that is actually legit. I think a lot of websites are scams, and you don't find that out until you've already put money into them. Good luck though!

I can honestly say that I really like doing hair. And if I had stayed in Missouri long enough, I probably would have opened my own shop and loved it. I got married and moved to North Dakota instead.
Now what I do is write, and I love to write. I've wanted to be a writer since I was little. I won a contest in first grade and I've been hooked since. lol
I don't make enough from writing to live on, but if I wanted to, I probably could within a few years. I just think that spending the early years at home with my son is more important than money. And I love being with him even more than writing. :)
It might just be my outlook, but I'm happy with where ever I am and with whatever job I have. Even when I worked at McDonalds' in high school, I liked it. I didn't love it, but I definitely liked it. :)

I think it is quite possible to find something you really love and gain monetary rewards from them. A lot of people are fortunate enough to be working on something they are very much passionate of. And this does not refer to online work only. In life, there are a lot of ways to find this perfect combination.

Oprah often says on her show that if you follow your passion that the money will follow you. I don't know if that's really been the case with me but then some of what I do online isn't in the least bit my passion while other things are. The things I like have made me the most money so maybe it really is true?
