Definitely errielle, I am a durian freak. When someone around is opening a durian, yes, it is the strong and unique smell that I couldn’t resist and want to take it immediately. I like the raw fruit which its flesh is creamy, yellowish and a bit bitter. It is the king of the fruits in my place. You can also take it together with plain rice with a little bit of salt and water added to it. Yummy...yummy...

Have you try this before? Take out the flesh, of course together with they seeds and put them into a container, then keep it in the fridge. It’s really tasty, just like eating ice cream but the texture is better than the durian ice cream.

I usually eat it fresh... straight from opening. I haven't tried putting in other things or eating frozen durian. perhaps i can try that next time.

Hello there. I absolutely love durian too. It's my favorite fruit. To me, it's not smelly at all. The taste is heavenly. In my country, we have many desserts that use durian as the main ingredient. I personally love durian puffs and durian cakes.

It's durian season here. but these durians come from jolo not davao. durians here cost P50.00 each not per kilo. I know that in manila, they sell it per kilo. Jolo durians are smaller but really smelly and delicious. If you come to zamboanga, i;ll give you one hehehe just be careful with high blood pressure!

Come to my country..Lotsa of durians here. hehe! I dont really quite like the smell of it. But I think i have tasted it when i was a kid. I forgot. When I grow up..because of the smell of it..I try to keep away from the fruit just that. But many people said it's the best fruit on earth! I can quote a friend saying,"You never really get to live,,,until you taste Durina!" One fo these days.. i am planning to eat it. I pray to God I will!

really? did know that other countries also have durian. In the Philippines, only the very selected areas in mindanao grow durian. Durian is very known in davao. Actually, davao is known for its durian. It becomes the symbol of their activities. Other places like Sulu provinces and tawi-tawi have durians. tawi-tawi is nearer malaysia.

errielle, I love eating durian but due to the high cost of this fruit, I seldom able to have the chance to taste this wonderful fruit. Durian have thick thorns and if you are not careful, will hurt your fingers or hands. The durian when not fully ripe, you will have a hard time splitting it up using even an axe but just wait until the spacing of the thorns became more prominent and the aroma is at the greatest, then you could easily pry open the durian fruit along the natural seams just by standing on it and the fruit will be easily split at its seams. Usually the fruit consisted of 6 to 8 seams. The meat of the durian is very tasting that you can eat you heart out and realizing you can finish the whole fruit. Durian in other countries also have different tinge of taste and consistency. What I doesn't like is the durian with thick skin leaving a few meat to savor and those with a lot of fibers. I prefer lighter durian fruit usually under 1 kilo. The heavier durian fruit the more the tendency that you are buying more skin than meat. Although other members of my household doesn't share the same zest that I have with Durian, just seeing me eat durian with gusto, they just let me be. Durian by the way is rich in cholesterol (don't know wheter good or bad cholesterol)just don't try eating the whole fruit in one sitting. The aroma of durian is very enticing that if you are not careful you will end up finishing the whole fruit. I am now trying to grow durian in my backyard. With all this discussion, I am now savoring the taste of durian from my memory. More power. ferritic

You have to be used to the smell in order to taste to the fullest the creamiest and wonderful taste that durian fruit have to offer. Place the durian meat in a refrigarator before eating to reduce the smell. or place some coffee powder near the fruit to displace the smaell with something good to smell. You wiill realized that you will love durian and later on will be accustomed with the smell. More power. Ferritic.

I'm definitely for durian, I like everything about it. But I admit, I kind of puked during my first encounter with it!;) Now, I'm a sucker for it. That's why I always remember this phrase that was told to me by those who also tasted it, "the fruit that smells like HELL but tastes like HEAVEN!" It sure is, that's why DURIAN is the KING of all fruits!=)
