I remember mine like it was yesterday and that is a LOT of yesterdays believe me! My mom and I went to a local bike store and I knew exactly which one I wanted. It was standing there gleaming like something out of a movie. It was a bright blue two wheeler and it was saying "I'm yours" to me. Of course there was no air in the tires so I walked it out of the store (my mom didn't drive) and as we were walking home I stopped in a gas station to put air in those tires so I could ride it home. I felt so proud and happy!
Do you rembember the first bike you ever got? Does it bring back great memories for you the way it does me?

You will probably think it is strange, ctry, but I have never owned a bicycle in my life. I never really learned to ride a bike very well, but my brother tried to teach me. I have always had a cautious attitude when it comes to anything on wheels. Maybe it has something to do with a past life. I grew up in the country where many of the kids did not own bikes. I don't know the reason for this, because most of them did know how to ride one. We did a lot of walking back then, LOL.

You would probably be surprised at how many kids didn't learn to ride bikes. I grew up with a lot that never had one.

Yes, I do remember it. I know I had saved my pocket money for six months and also worked during summer vacation for 2 months to arrange money for it. I wanted to buy one on my own. I had never learned riding bicycle before I bought one. First, I purchased it and then my friend taught me how to ride bicycle.

Hello!
How can I forget my first bicycle! *hihihi*. My parents bought me & my bro our bicycle because we gave them a hard time about it. Our friends had theirs and we couldn't play with them since we had none. I remember that time BMX was the famous and the expensive bike you could buy. So my father bought us our first bikes, it was a surprise, one day he came home with 2 bicycles! mine was in red, my bro was in blue...*hehe*. It had some foam or pads for protection or something.
I was so happy with my bicycle, everyday i'm always excited to go home from school so I could practice driving/riding it. Despite all the bruises and cuts in my legs I didn't give up, 'til one day i've learnt to drive it! I was so excited and happy, was gleaming with joy and was so proud of myself since nobody taught me how to. And when I learnt to drive it with one hand..ohh I was so showing off to my friends! LOL!! fun childhood memories! *smile*
ciao! c",)

Yes. It was hot pink with white flowers with a a white shiny banana seat with flecks of glitter in the seat and streamers coming out of the handle bars that I eventually ripped out. It had a white basket on the front with flowers on it. I think I also had a bell. I think I got it for my sixth birthday. I remember waking up and going into the living room and it was next to the floor model TV. I was so excited. I remember trying to ride it around the living room and holding onto the furniture because I couldn't ride a bike yet. Before that I had a red tricycle that I put a picture of the Bionic Woman on the seat that I got out of a cereal box.

I can imagine you trying to ride a bike around a living room! Would you let your kids do that? lol

You are so lucky enough to have a bicycle of your own.
As for me, when I was young my siblings and I have asked for one but my dad doesn't agree for it will be dangerous.
I was able to learn riding a bicycle when I was 9 (I guess) and just borrowed from my cousin during the summer vacation.
Now that I am old and capable of buying one, I have thoughts of buying but I would rather spend the money for the needs of my kids!

I remember my first bike. It was a blue bike with a banana seat that had different glittery color stripes across it, and it had those tall handle bars that swooped down (I'm sure they have a name but I don't know it). I had a basket on the front for a while, then I got a radio with a light and horn on it. I thought I was so cool with that little yellow gizmo on my bike. Whenever we pretended to be police, I wanted to be the police because I had the horn that I could use as a siren. It didn't always work, I used to have to be the one getting the tickets too =( I was ok with taking turns though.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane...my favorite kind of trips.

Sure do, it prompted my parents to buy me a bike. I did not have a bike, only my brother's did. SO my neighbors, got together and pieced me a bike from the broken ones they had lying around. My parents were so embarassed. I got a bike.
But it was an awful one, it was made by firestone and began to disintegrate almost immediately.

I owned my first bicycle when I was in the university. Since I lived far from the school, so I went to school by bicycle everyday for a year. Later I lived in the dorm so that I didn't have to go to school by bicycle. I was lucky that my bicycle had never been stolen. Although at that time it was quite normal to lose a bicycle.

I've only ever had one bike. I don't honestly remember much about it. I didn't live in a neighborhood where you could easily ride a bike. I lived on a major road where we had car accidents at least every other week right around our house. So I wasn't allowed to drive the streets much as there weren't sidewalks or anything and it was dangerous for a young kid. It was too much hassle to have my parents drive me and my bike somewhere. so I was never much into the whole "biking" thing.

Oh yes, i clearly remember as it was on my tenth birthday, the bicycle that i truly owned nd loved that i got as a gift on my birthday and i was so thrilled with it.
Just as a gift is wrapped up, so was the bicycle and had beautiful bows on it and i just loved the cherry red coloued cycle that i got, and the best part was that i did not know how to ride a cycle then, yet i wanted to ride it, so as our house was on a slope, i just sat on my cycle and came right down, and was shrieking on top of my voice and did not even know how to apply the breaks, so my dad was trying to tell me what to do, but i was too excited to listen to him and came right into the gate and banged into it, and hurt my leg badly. But that did'nt make me howl or cry as the excitement of having sat on the cycle and ridden it also, was much more for me, and i still have that mark on my leg. And it did not take me more than a week to lear the cycle and that was my best friend there after.
I think those memories i can never forget and i never cherished a gift more than my first bicycle as well.

Yes, I won my 1st bicycle when Iwas a student of class-5. That day was a very joyful day for me. It was presented by my uncle. As I grew up, the same bicycle accompanied me in my higher classes also. As a matter of credit, the same bicycle is also with me in good running condition. Items like this may be small but always carry a significant value for young and old persons alike. Thanks for this nice discussion.

i do remember my first bicycle, and the training wheels. I remember my dad teaching me how to ride it. i also remember my tricycle when I was really little. it was pink and mostly plastic (the seat and handlebars).
