Aww cute! :) If you get a chance to upload a pic of him on here share it please! =P When I choose a name I think of movies, books, anything...I actually just also like coming up with random names that I don't know WHERE I get them from lol. Sometimes I'll see the dog and a name will just come to me for it, because of how it looks or something. And I don't mean the name is going to be like...chocolate for a brown dog or aything. The name won't be about it's physical characterstics. Like when I see tabby cats, a always think they look like 'Trevor's. lol. I don't know why.
We have a bird named Chaucher, based on the guy in A Knights Tale.
I named my white himylain (sp?) persian Adiana based off a characters name in a game I play lol.
I named my lovebird "Petite Minion" because it means 'littel cutey' in french.

I would want to name it something that I can relate to. For example: My favorite show, or one of my favorite shows is Friends, so maybe I would name my pet after one of the characters on Friends. You should pick something that is personal to you. Then it will be more fun. :)

Right now I have five dogs.
Little Bear is a pomeranian. He was named Little Bear, because, well, he looks like a bear. Little was added on to it because the cartoon Little Bear was one of my favorite shows as a kid.
Nickolas, or Nicky is a pomeranian. He was named by my mom, after her dad who passed away a long time ago. She says the dog acts so much like her dad, that it was the perfect name for him. It's kind of funny, too. We called him all sorts of name before Nicky, and he would never answer to any of them. When we started calling him Nicky, he started to answer.
Ollie is a long hair chihuahua. There really isn't a story behind her name. I let my 5 year old niece name her, and she said she wanted to name her Olivia, but I had to call her Ollie. So, that's her name.
Precious and Blackie are the other two. There names are pretty self-explanatory.
Have you tried doing a search for puppy names? Go to ask.com and type in "Puppy Names" or "Dog Names" and see what comes up. There are a lot of websites dedicated to just animal names.
Hope that helps a little! Congratulations on the new addititon the family. Let me know what you end up naming him!

It is lovely that you have a new dog. I hope you choose the perfect name for him. It can be challenging to choose a name hey. I called my first dog, he is now 3 years old,Secret. That was really the pedigree name his breeder gave him. In full his name is Secret Party Circle. The name really suits him. He has many hidden black circles in his white fur. His color is considered to be non standard, he is white and black with a tiny amount of apricot. I called my second dog Magic because she is black. In full her name is Magic Mayflower. She is a year and a half old. I hope you have lots of delightful times with your dog.

I don't have a dog pet, but I have a virtual penguine pet. I named him Oriole. hehe. The reason it that when Oriole is translated into Chinese, it sounds like my wife's name and I told my wife about this. She seems happy for this name given to the virtual penguine pet. Lol

A lot of factors go into a name.
Part of it has to do with the appearance or personality of the dog. Sometimes it takes up to three weeks for a dog to truly settle in to a new home and the coming days you will learn more about his personality. It also depends on the names of your family members or other pets. You don't want to name your dog Sassy if your daughter is named Cassie. Some people also consider where the breed came from. I have known Scottish terriers not just named Scottie but McTavish, Connery, etc too.
I prefer to choose names outside of the ordinary. In fact, I tend to go for "people names" that you wouldn't normally associate with dogs. Max is common, Bob, Nancy, Phillip, Frederick, etc are not. Just for examples.
Actually, one of my two dogs that we adopted "chose" his own name. We opened the biography part of an unabridged dictionary and let him put his paw on a name. Kind of silly sounding I know but that's what we did! He is Alex after Alexander the Great :)

My oldest dog found us and we named her Sandy. It just seemed to fit her, and it was the first name she answered to. For being a stry she is an absolute sweetheart. We adopted a puppy right before Christmas last year from the pound and I named him Brady. I read somewhere on the internet that Brady was the word in some language for "hope". And when we were looking at the pound and let him out of the kennel that's what his eyes were filled with. I guess this may sound odd but name him whatever comes you and feels right.
