I've been on birth control for the past 5 years and have quite taking them about 3 weeks ago. I know nothing is going to happen right away, but has anyone else been thru this before? Is there anything I can do to get my hormones back in check and to start ovulating again?

Wait a quick minute here. Did you just say you wanted to have a baby? I think I need to get my eyes checked here. What does hubby have to say about this? I am sure you can go to the Doctor and they have hormones that you can take. Your best bet is to go talk to your doctor and see what they reccomend for you. It can take about a year once you stop your birthcontrol to start ovulating again.

Hey! Thanks for getting me onto this site! Well I've been on BC for 7 years. My fiancee and I have been pregnant 3 times and have miscarried every one of them because of the birth control. So I had to stop taking it. I've been off for almost a month and I'm ready to get pregnant. My fiancee and I both want kids right away and it's hard to wait. I think that you should just be patient for now. Do some research, find out your ovulation dates, and get a goin!!! But make sure that you don't make it a hassel. Making love shouldn't be about body temperatures and ovulation days. Love him most of all. And it'll happen.. after all.. babies are a sign of love.

I am in the same postion as you. I was on Birth control pills for almost 10 years. I just stopped taking them in september. I would not get so worried. I read so many things about it. Some people say it may take up to two months to ween off the pills however other people have told me they got pregnant the very same month the stopped taking them. You can use the following sites to help you figure out when and if you are ovulating. They are also very helpful with any baby, and conciving questions you could possibly have.

Regardless of how long you've been on the pill, it can take anywhere from 6 months to a year for "things to even out" as they were before. But this is not true in all, or even most cases. I'd say keep trying for up to a year-that's the recommended "time frame" before you need to perhaps look into fertility issues. Most importantly, relax and enjoy...most people conceive when they're really not "trying" to.

I was on birth control in novemember of 2003 I came off them, I never got pregnant until april of 2004. It had taken about five months. However now I am worried.
My boyfriend and I have been tring since August of 2005, to get pregnant and nothing yet, and I have been off birth control since then...I really don't understand whats going on

First you need to relax, then you need to try to figure out if it's you or your hubby. It may be as simple as what kind of underwear your hubby is wearing or if his "little guys" are too hot. He can try putting ice on his "friends" at night to cool them down and then you can try it. This has been know to work - we have 4 kids all 2 years apart.
Good Luck

i took shots for 4 years after I has my first child. They told me it would take 12-18 months before I got pregnant. it took me 8 months to get pregnant. So just be patient. Good luck

I guess it depends on what type of bc you were on. I know that Mirena, an IUD, once taken out you can get pregnant right away. I don't know about anything else. Maybe get an ovulation kit or talk to your OB.

I was on the pill for roughly 5 years myself. I wanted another child in 2001. I stopped taking the pill on March 3rd of that year, got my period on March 7th, ovulated on March 21st and gave birth to my going on 5yr old daughter on December 11th. They tell you you have to give the pills a chance to get out of your system but as with everything else in life, that rule doesn't apply to everyone.

Its better to see a good doctor and have acomplete medical checkup.
Any hormone imbalances can be checked and chances of conceiving soon are higher.
