I know I may get some hard knocks on this but I am going ahead anyway. I hardly read the Daily Gleaner I read the Obsever but based on where I work I have to be reading everything in case there is some thing is mentioned about one of our ongoing cases. Well I read this artcile where a fellow Jamaican was quite angry and complaining about the men and their saggy pants. The writer also suggested that this style of dressing was used in soliciting.... Dont bash me now I am only the bearer of the news ok and I know I shall get some hard knocks for this so I am bracing myself! Be gentle with me ... please!! Anyways another article stated that this saggy pants business started inthe prison where the belts were removed from the pants to prevent hanging. So of course the pants sagged. The writer also stated that they didnt see the need for the guys to be wearing their pants like that because it looked disgusting. They were actually showing the underpants and I have noticed that some of our girls have picked up that style too, showing thiongs and all! Personally I dont like that look and would not even look twice at a guy dressed like that. I hate to see all those undies showing. What do you think? Anyone knows if those two points are really true? If they are not, please enlighten my darkness here and thanks in advance!

I am glad you said it. I just had an arguement with a man of color the other day because he keeps having a hard time being accepted yet he walks around with braids in his hair and his pants are sagging. He sounded so ignorant, it almost made me angry. Now, do not get me wrong. I am African American and I love my brothers. But, when you go to a job interview with your pants sagging, they are not going to even glance at your application. I was trying to tell him about first impressions and he kept saying that once they saw his application, they would hire him. I wanted to ring his 23 year old neck. They will hire someone less qualified than him if they can find someone to dress right. I am glad you brought up the point about jail, because it looks like this is wear these type of dressers are headed. There are not very many ivy league schools that will accept you with your tail showing. My point is, the ones that will let you in are on the way to jail anyway. I was trying to impress upon him to have enough confidance in himself that he wont have to be like everyone else.

My dear I share your anger but it seems as if he perferred to be "with" the crowd than dressing properly and presenting himself for an interview. I guess their morals and values are sagging too along with the pants. Cheer up friend you did your best.

I've heard that before on here from a friend.I dont like the look showing their butts. My son is 11 he might like the baggy look but he definitely wears a belt so his pants are not sagging and showing his undergarment.

Hooray for you! that is one stopped and I hope more parents were like you. When a man has on his nicely pressed shirt and his pants properly fixed, it makes me ahve to look twice at them just for the neatness. I look at the school children and they look so neat when they are properly attired.

I remember reading where one state has made it illegal to wear these types of pants. Personally I think they look stupid and would never let my son wear them...but that's me. Thankfully my nephew has not gotten to that point and I pray he never does. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Twoey I read that in our papers too and actually one State charged a yougn man for indecent exposure. They shoudl implement those laws in Jamaica too. I thinks it is untidy.

I believe it is a no no. I think it can be filed under indecent exposure. I find it distasteful and even obscene at times. I do not wish to be exposed to it nor have my young daughters exposed to it.

My baby's dad wears his pants saggy like that, but always makes sure his shirt goes over his butt and he wears a belt. If their underwear is not showing I think it is fine, but I don't wanna see anyones underwear in public.

I've heard cops like this style because "bad guys" can't run and they are easier to catch. LOL

Hahaha1 Good for them too. If they had dressed properly the policemen would have to work alot harder. I guess it is a plus but I still do not like it. It really looks untidy.
