I don't know why they ear their own babies, I think they only eat the weaker because they won't survive or something like that. How to take care of them, just leave them with the mother. Don't touch them when they are just born, as the mother might reject them. You don't have to take care of them they will only stay in the nest in the beginning. When they start coming out, then you can touch and hold them.

There are several reasons why a hamster will eat one of her babies. First, there is something wrong with the baby. Next, if they have been handled or touched by someone or another hamster, the mother will eat them because she thinks they are not hers. If something happens to stress the mother, she will eat them, which could be as simple as cleaning the cage or trying to handle her. Also, if the mother doesn't have food or water, she will eat her babies to survive. I would not clean the cage until the babies are about two weeks old if it can be avoided.
