When I was a kid my parents convinced me to believe in Santa Claus. Every Christmas I found gifts from Santa Claus beneath our Christmas Tree which I personally decorated in some way. And some goodies and money inside my Christmas socks. Until I saw them placing those gifts and money when they thought that I was sleeping and that was when I was on my sixth grade in school.
Now, I still want to believe that there's Santa Claus so I can expect gifts every Christmas night. Unfortunately I am now playing as Santa Claus to some of my relatives. Poor me..
What about you?

Yeah it kind of sucks, I don't want to lie to my children, when I have them, but I don't want to ruin Christmas for them because I remember how happy I was when my mom told me Santa came. It's just hard to lie to them, but at the same time when you see them so happy, it's just a hard decision to make.

When I was a kid me and my siblings believe that there really is a Santa Claus but as we grew older me and my older sister were kinda curious how did Santa enter are house and how did he know what we really like for Christmas. And so when I was in 1st grade and my sister is in her 3rd grade by then we decided to have an investigation days before Christmas. And so both of us are trying to search for clues until one day when we arrived home from school too early as expected we were wondering what took our mom so long to open the door and so as we enter our house we saw our maid cleaning up some paper trimmings and my mom walked hurriedly to their bedrooms. After our maid finished cleaning the mess I went to the the garbage bin where she threw those paper trimmings and tried to look at it myself what are those and as i was examining the papers my sis followed my mom to their bedroom and there she saw that my mom put a big bag on their closet and she said that there are things inside the bag. And so after seeing that my sis run hurriedly towards me to tell me everything and after she told all of that I told her that the paper trimmings that we saw were trimmings from a Christmas gift wrapper. By that time we were already kinda convinced that our mom is the one who is placing all those gifts under the tree but we still have some hesitations since we still want to believe that there is a Santa Clause. Then we went together to our mom and confront her about what we saw but by that time our mom lied to us and said that its not true but we dont believe her and so as a proof she brings out the gifts and showed us but the only gifts that she brought out were the gifts that came from them and she told us that the gifts that she was wrapping are the gifts for us that comes from them not from Santa. Well since we figured out that our mom would not really tell us the truth we just pretended that we do believe her even though we really don't. Then we waited until Christmas eve so that we could really finally tell if there really is a Santa or not then as the night gets deeper and our parents taught that we were asleep me and my sis went out of our room and sneak in our living room and we were surprised of what we saw. We saw our mom and dad putting our gifts under the tree and so because of that we suddenly jump in to the living room and surprised them..lol..after that we told them that we already knew that there really is no Santa Claus and its ok for them too tell us the truth. And since then, me and my sis knew that our parents is the real Santa but for the sake of our little brother we pretend that there really is a Santa Claus who comes in at our house every Christmas to drop our gifts and put them under the tree...

I definitely believe in Santa Claus, and I encourage my children to believe. If you ask my 22 year old daughter, she would tell you yes also. He is the spirit of Christmas. I know and have always taught my children that we don't celebrate Christmas for the gifts we get, it's to celebrate the gift given to us, Jesus. I found out when I was 9 that there was no real Santa Claus, when I saw my mom putting presents under the tree. I never told anyone that when I was little, I wanted to make sure not to ruin it for everyone.

Hi there. No way, that belief went out the door when I caught the so called santa claus (our dad) drinking the tea and biscuits we left for the supposedly santa claus, I was 7 years old and so disappointed lol... We dont let our children believe in it either as we dont lie to our children and fill there heads with non sense...

I think every adults know that Santa Claus doesn't exist. However, I still like this beautiful lie. It gives us hope and it makes the Christmas much more interesting.

awwww... i do believe in father christmas or santa claus... but he existed ages ago.. isn't he the saint who send gift to little children and poor ones when he was still alive??
for me, personally, i think that's why we are celebrating christmas is this because we are celebrating Jesus's birthday, a savior who saves us from the bandage of sins.. and for me that is the greatest give of my life... not a single or big thing can replace that.. isnt??
and santa claus is juz an example.... of sharing...

I dont beleive in Santa CLaus but I do enjoy those Santa Claus movies. I tell my daughter the same thing too. Well you will still ge the gifts because they are friends, parents and realtives who enjoy giving to you just to see the happiness that precious gift can bring. You dont have to believe in Santa Claus for that to happen because youa re loved and they want you to feel special. Dont spoil their fun ok! They also know that he is not real but the reality is they are indeed your Santa Claus to make your christmas special and lovingly remembered.

I believed in Santa Claus. I remember when I was a kid and my parents would give me and my siblings gifts during Christmas morning telling us that Santa gave such gifts. It was a happy feeling, of being a child again.
When we get older, of course we came to know that it was just a make believe.
Now that I am a parent, I do it also to my kids. So as when they look back, they would remember the happy feeling of being a child and would think that Christmas is loving and giving.

...Christmas used to be a very depressing time of year for me when I was in college. I was dirt poor and could give my family and friends nothing. Having children and having to play Santa brought back some of the joy in Christmas.
...When I was a child, I can remember believing in Santa Claus. My folks went to a lot of work to nuture this belief. The fact that you get to play Santa is a gift. Enjoy it for what it is worth. The true joy is in giving.
...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

Hello dhedows118, no I don't believe in Santa Claus but I believed in the spirit of giving. As a child I have watch many movies about Santa Clause but we were never led to believe that its true by my parents or in school. What had been explained to us is the act of giving that Santa' stories is telling. How it is very important to be always good and giving without expecting anything in return. :-)
