there are a lot of different ways to scam and trick people. the latest jagex updates takes care of a couple of them, like saying out your password and the flash alert when someone makes a change in the items being traded. lol. but people keep coming up with new ways to scam. just sharing what i saw the other day... something i saw for the first time, maybe you have seen or even experienced this type of scamming before there was this guy of level 50 or something in world 1 shouting out with flashes and wave effects outside the varrock west bank. he said he was selling the weapons store key for a whopping 400k!! and i was like whoa! who's idiotic enough to buy that thing at such a price. it was something that i'd give away for free. then i walked a little to the east and saw this 70+ level guy shouting out that he was buying a weapon's store key for 600k. for a moment it passed my mind, go for it: a clean 200k profit. but in a split second i realised.. whoa its just a scam. the guy who was buying the key kept moving around and even passed the guy selling the key and they both were shouting what they were buying and selling and they didn't trade (obviously). so in the end i sent a trade offer to the guy buying the key (just to check) and of course there was no reply from him. clever plan it was but i think they really made it too obvious, only if they didnt exaggerate the prices too much, they might have been successful. like one of them selling full rune g for 1.6 million (instead of the normal price of 1.2 million) and the buyer shouting out to buy full rune g for 1.8-2.0 million. lol, wth! i m giving tips to scam!!! just wanted to share this funny experience. have you ever been scammed or been tried to be scammed in some other way? do share so that other people may be more careful by knowing your experiences.

the scam you are describing is called a double team scam, where 2 players get together to try and get someone else to buy a fairly worthless item for an expensive price, while another person not too far away says they are buying that item for even more. i saw this happening in a free to play world once, where someone wanted to "buy" 13 eyes of newt for a whopping 100k (3 gp in the shops to buy lol) so i went off my f2p character and onto my main character, which has eyes of newt in the bank (for herblore) and traded the guy selling without even bothering with the guy selling 13 eyes of newt (for 50k lol)... guess what, he didn't complete the trade with me (suprise, suprise). they both logged out straight after, but i did manage to report one of them first. it really helps if you know what sells for what in runescape to help you not get scammed by such people, some common things to try and scam with are: eyes of newt, charcoal (has no use in f2p but can be traded there and is only used for a couple of quests in members) and spinach roll (heals nothing and is dropped by moss giants, sometimes gotten from some random events). sometimes you just have to be really doubtful of others in game.
