What age of child do you like the best? My daughter is 17 months old and she is just so much fun now. I really didn't enjoy 9 months too much because she was going through major separation and stranger anxiety and it was hard to take her anywhere.

My children are grown now. Each child was different for favorite age, but when each started to read it was a joy to see their face light up reading their first book on their own. My oldest daughter started reading at age 3 and it became a challenge to find something for her to read in her later years. Her favorite book was the dictionary and now I need the dictionary to have a conversation with her. My younger daughter started to read at age 4 and had a very hard time learning to read. She really showed a huge smile when she was a able to complete a book.

My eldest son is only 10 so I can't comment on older childen but for me personally with the first child I found every month was better than the one before, as they learn new skills and develop as an individual, up until the age of about 5 by which time most experiences are extensions of existing ones, and by then the less pleasant influences of their peers tend to kick in. By the time my second son came along the novelty had worn off a little and I found the first 6 months a little boring. After that the pattern was pretty much the same.

I think right around a year old was the best time. They were old enough to understand some of what you tell them and they were learning to walk. And it was before they hit their terrible twos and started telling me no!.

I like 2-3 year old children. They are so sweet. You are the world to them, they follow wherever you go, they cry when you leave. When they become 4 or 5 years old, they start to have their own worlds. Sometimes, its hard to get their attention because they are starting to be so into their toys and friends already :)
