An average person requires approximately (or around) 8 hours of sleep and I consider beyond that is not required and it is only going to make a man lazy. There are exceptions when one carries out a lot of physical work during the day time, may require 1 hour extra sleep. Actually embracing the bed for more than 8 hours every day might put the persons into some health problems.
Regarding sleeping well, depends on worry free mind, happiness of mind, tiredness due to work at office, or travelling. Those who do not work, those who have worries and tension, tend to get less sleep. And also those who aged, get very less sleep. Another way to ensure proper sleep, is to regualarise the timings. If you develop a habit of going to bed at 11 p.m., then follow it meticulously and it becomes a practice. If still sleep is not proper, then either in themorning or in the evening take a brisk walk for 1 hour (3 to 4 kms perday). This should give you excellent sleep. Try meditation too.

I know how to do it easily.
To rest well, you need to take holiday from your daily job, then enjoy your free time, do whatever you want, as long It make you happy, even the craziest one. Or try to getaway to somewhere else that quite, peaceful, and relaxing, hawaii could be best or amazon may be.
and to sleep well is the easiest things everyone can do, just go to bed, get everybody at your home to go out if you feel disturbed by them, then read something's boring...wallah you'll asleep soon
