hmmi had the same problem, maybe its the cable othat connects the monitor or maybe its low voltage i dont know much about computers but i think it might help if you check the power lines

There are lots of other possible causes aside from cabling (which is usually what we check first. Based on your description, it may be a No Video, No Post, or No Power problem.
Check power and VGA/DVI cable from monitor to PC.
Does the CPU turn off too when the monitor goes off?
YES? Problem is NO POWER
NO? Problem is No POST/No Video
if you can answer this I'll reply with more instructions.
