Do you remember days of the week by the TV shows that are on?

This might seem silly, but it is something that some people actually do. There was a time, that you would know the day of the week and from that you would remember what show you wanted to watch. But these days since I was out of work, which is when you know the weekdays, I actually kept track of the days of the week depending on which TV shows were on. For example, if it was comedy day, then it was Monday, if Prison break is on, then it's Tuesday, if Grey's Anatomy is on, then it's Wednesday, if there's nothing good on, then it's thursday, and that means I'll go out, Friday is easy, since it's family day, and that is obvious, and if there is no Seinfeld then it's either a Saturday or a Sunday. Now of course, this is just according to one channel. This actually sounds painfully pathetic, doesn't it, ha ha? But I'm sure it's not that unusual is it? I mean, if you're not at school or at work then it's hard to keep track of the days of the week, and don't even get me started on the dates, ha ha. Thank God for mobile reminders that I even know if there is a birthday or not, ha ha. Has this ever happened to you? How do you keep track of your days of the week?

I keep track of days of the week by work unfortunately. "Do I have to go to work tomorrow...ugh yes" after having days off means its sunday. "What do i have to do today ugh 3days worth" means it's monday. "Ugh today is so boring" means it's tuesday".. "Disks.." wednesday... "Bkweek and cif and other crap" means it's thursday "No tech support" means friday. That makes no sense to you but all the sense in the world to me.

Actually it does make sense to me, I actually took up CCNA a few years back, never completed it, and my bro-in-law is tech support so I know exactly what you mean.

ha ha. Well I just meant that you might not know what disks stands for. or what BKweek or CIF stands for. and you certainly don't understand what "no Tech Supp" means. As in.. you wouldn't understand what I mean by why i have 3days worth one day and what makes boring days another. Etc.

Ha ha, I see someone similar to me, but you got your days wrong, I guess, it must have been a saturday when you wrote this, maybe you watched a re run of heroes, he he. For me, the day after tomorrow will be RAW and there's no Simpsons today, so it must be Sunday, he he.

Yes alot of times I do, and then there are times when I can tell you what the time is by what is on TV. It is a sad world that we live in when we let the TV tell us what the day of the week is. LOL

LOL interesting you post this discussion, me and hubby were talking about that just yesterday. WE have come to know the days by today is NCIS, or today is House or Prision break.. not monday or tuesday etc hehehe This is even more interesting because I'm not even much of a TV watcher - I think I basically see one special show almost everyday of the week, but my time in front of the TV is actually short. Now hubby is another story he really likes to sit down and watch TV for hours :)

No, I don't:P I always think about the day first and then my mind shows me what series can I watch. I think it would be too complicated for me to think "Hmmm... today we have Heroes so it must be Tuesday" because I usually have so many things to do that day than watching tv (unfortunately T-T).

Wow, I really love your crying smiley, at the end. I guess as long as we know what day it is, it doesn't matter how we reached that conclusion.

Oh dude, you're lucky, I remember when I used to get that channel that showed wrestling all the time. Then I used to remember days by what wrestling show was on too. Sadly these days I don't get that channel.

if its silly then we're both silly! ^__^;; i used to know the day of the week too just by seeing what shows are on tv. but now, i dont get to watch tv during weekdays but i still have some reminder for myself. we have a color coding system at the office. on mondays we wear red, tuesdays peach, wednesdays blue, thursdays its white and finally, fridays would be anything. ^__^ hey, i use my mobile phone too to remind of my friends' birthdays! LOL i use my cellphone calendar on that and also to remind me of my schedules. ^__^;;

You really have a point there, but I am particular with the dates because I have my own business. I have to be particular with the dates because it is a waste of time to everyday ask others the date today.

Oh yeah, dates and days are important for you, and you should be up to date. For me, it's not that important since everyday is the same for guitar practice.

I seldom watch TV but if I am really into something (rarely), I would definitely remember the days and I wouldn't even want to go out because I need to finish the TV show. Like I am really into America Next Top Model, and it's only on here on Sunday night. I would reserve my time for that. I don't watch that much TV anyway *laughs*.

I am with Lexus here, in doing just the opposite. Instead of telling time by the television, sometimes looking at the day and time reminds me there is something worth watching. But since my PDA rules my life, so to speak, every time I shop it tells me what day it is (I make any entry of what I bought and where and when and how much it cost) and then I might say, "Oh, yes, tonight we are going to watch Viva Laughlin" -- except that one doesn't start to air for a few more weeks. If I don't go shopping that day, no matter, there is always TIVO.

Wow, sounds like you go shopping a lot, that must be nice. If it were between TV and shopping, I'd probably choose shopping more on most times, too.

Yeah, of course, if it's a choice between your favorite show and going out, then I would probably choose out too, but depends which show it is, and if there will be a re run.

I don't really keep track of the days of the week very well lol. I used to be able to tell the days from the programmes but nowadays so many channels repeat programmes that it is not easy to know which day it is from them, and it is really annoying sometimes because an episode is out of sequence and that really messes me up! If I really have to be somewhere I write myself a huge note and stick it to my front door so that I can not forget but otherwise I meander quite pleasantly through the days. However, I have often been told I look much younger than I should look at my age, so maybe not taking any notice of the passing days fools my brain into thinking I am still young lol.

Yeah, those reruns can really sucker us into thinking it's some day when it's another. But the time of the reruns can counter that.

We no longer get the newspaper, so apart from the computer and the Tv, we are unsure of what day it is. It does get confusing when the Tv shows change their lineups. Then not only do we not know the day, but we are unsure about the time of day. I hate what would happen to those people who get satellite Tvs and they cannot tell what time it is because the show comes on seven in one time zone, eight in another, and nine in another, with half an hour in Newfoundland. Now that the new season is coming on, and there are some new shows, I will have to keep track of them to know what day and time it is.

It sounds like a chore all in itself, yeah, it does take getting used to when the season is over and new shows come on, but the great thing about TV is that you can get a hang of it all pretty quick.

When I stayed home with my kids, I knew what day it was by what was on that night, and funnier than that? my kids watched the same shows each day and I knew what time it was by what was on

Hi vega88! haha..you are right about that. You see I stay home most of the time and sometimes I forgot what day it is already. Sometimes, I get help from the tv programs but other times I call my aunt what day it is. She usually laughs at me and tells me to get out once in awhile. Well, of course I do when I go to the bank, do my groceries, pay bills and when I go to malls or craft stores for my supplies. Once, I felt so silly going to the bank, and it was a holiday. I really got so irritated with myself because I should have turned on the tv first or called my aunt to be just sure on what day it is. But right now, I have my desk calendar which I crossed out the days so as not to be so kinda silly when it comes to tracking dates. LOL! Take care and have a nice day!

I totally get it, when you're at home, and especially if you're a home maker, then the weekdays and weekends sort of merge, because unlike in jobs, you don't really get a day off from housework, right? Well, in this case, we all have to come up with our own ways to remember, I like your TV and aunt ways, but the calendar... what if you forget to cross out a day on some day, then you'll be one day behind for all days, he he.

ha ha, yeah, here, if America's next Top Model is on and it's the first time and not a re run then it's a Monday, and depending on the time the re run is on, I can figure out the other days as well, since it runs throughout the whole week, on channel V.

I do both...sometimes I will think about the day and then about what is on TV, but other days I will be watching TV and will think...hey, it must be Thursday. I'm a house wife and a mother of two, so aside from cleaning the house, taking care of the kids and hubby...tv is the thrill of my life.

Well, TV is the thrill of most lives. It gives me quite a thrill too, sometimes, when there's nothing else to do.
