A story has been very much in local news lately about a horrible fire that took the lives of four children and a woman. This took place not far from where I live, and I had my suspicions all along. Lives were taken and families broken by this event. It did indeed sound suspicious. I could not believe it when it was revealed yesterday that following the investigation a 10-year-old boy had confessed to this crime. I don't know what caused him to do something so terrible, but my prayers are with the family-and with this boy who has a long road ahead of him. He will have to live with the results of his actions for the rest of his life.

I can't imagine being this child. He is going to be put through alot. How do you think it should be handled? No matter what they do, someone is not going to be happy with the results. It is a sad situation all the way around. Did he realize what he was doing? I know that he knew he was messing with fire.
You know when my nephew was 7 he set my sisters couch on fire, and set a small fire in the middle of her kitchen. Thank goodness she found it before it did much damage. When he was asked why he was messing with fire, he had an answer and it is a little scary.
His answer was, "We had the firemen at school the other day and a girl asked them what happens if your house catches fire? Where do you live? The fireman replied, "They will tear the house down if it is bad enough, and build a new one." He told his mother that he was just trying to get them a new house. You never know how kids will take things.
They had to make an appointment with the fireman to go into a more detail and explain things to him better. The fireman was so sorry for making the statement. He didn't realize that kids would take it that way. He said from now on, he would be more careful in his answers and be very clear when talking to children.

Taking under consideration the fact that a child is just a child, Thoroughrob, I do believe that they are more knowledgeable today than they were even a decade ago. I have seen people over the years who are just attracted to fire. I had that problem with one of mine. We used to live in fear that she would burn us up in our sleep. No matter how many times I tried to impress upon her the dangers of playing with fire she just wouldn't get the message. Thankfully she finally grew out of it.

Heartbreaking story sweety - so hard to comprehend how this could happen! I wonder if he was doing that age old kid thing where he was playing with matches and things got out of hand? Otherwise this boy must have some terrible emotional problems and is screaming out for help. I join you in praying for the victims family, the boy and his family - I would hate to be in their position! xxx

I think, mummymo, that when the whole story comes out they will find that he does suffer from some emotional problems. I just hope they will be able to help him rather than hurt him.

Yes, Elusive, it is at times like this that we remember that we all stand in the need of prayer-some more than others/

I don't know what to say in a situation like this. It is really sad. Surely at 10 years old, the child didn't know or at least didn't think he/she would be killing anyone. I just don't know what goes through their minds to make them do something like this. But you are right, they will have to live with this knowledge for the rest of their lives. Do you know if he/she will be punished or tried in court for this? Was it his/her own family members that were involved in the fire? So sad.

It was reported that he was a family member, applsofgold. He is being charged with 5 counts of murder so I assume that he will be imprisoned in some manner.

That is so tragic! It's incredible that someone so young could ever even be capable of doing something so horrible. Are there any clues as to why he did it, and was it intentional? You're so right, that child has a long road ahead of him. Keep me posted as to what happens.

To avoid child crime, marely just sitting at our home is not sufficient. today need is to come front and help as much as possible those guys who cannot be able to run their livelihood. As a youth, we have to initiate. So, lets gear up to bring smile to faces. Am damn sure with this kind of intiative, we can get control over all kinds of crimes too as nobody wants to be criminal. But, everybody wants to live a respectful life.
