That's right! "9/11 could have and should have been prevented." That's a direct quote from the U.S. head of spy operations, Director of National Intelligence, Michael McConnell in front of the House Judiciary Committee this past Tuesday. Apparently they weren't supposed to be focusing on anything domestic so they failed to "connect the dots". I know we've all heard this before or something similar but let's discuss it now anyway!

You know, they say hindsight is 20/20.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda changes absolutely nothing.
None of the different law enforcement and intelligence communities were sharing information, and the US had been living under terrorist threat for years.
If everyone would have been doing their jobs correctly over the last few generations, then a lot of things could have and should have turned out differently.
As it is, they did not, and it all is a moot point now.
How long is this finger pointing and the blame game going to continue?
Do a little research and determine which administration made an enemy of bin Laden. A lot of people are still in denial over that one.
Now we have Homeland security and other organizations as well, at the expense of our freedoms.
You can't have freedom and security both, and you can't have security without losing freedoms and rights.
To me freedom is much more important that security, however we have not had a successful attack since 9-11.
So, where do we draw the line, and at what point do we strike a workable balance between freedom and security?

I know Bin Laden has been our enemy for quite some time although he, as well as Saddam Hussein, was once our friend. We choose our friends well, don't we? LOL I know it's all a moot point now but from what I've heard there were meetings during the Clinton Administration involving the various intelligence agencies so then there was a comparison of info we didn't have right before 9/11. As for the balance between freedom and security I don't think we'll ever strike a "workable balance" that will suit everyone but one thing I think we can all agree doesn't work is the policy of taking grandmothers and infants out of airport lines to search them and basically do anything to avoid being accused of "racial profiling".

Everyone knows this already, no one did anything. Anyway, what's done is done, and it cannot be undone. All you can do now it just learn from the past and do your best not to let it happen again in the future. Education. Educate people about terrorism and about airport security, help those who are not in their right mind by putting them in a mental institution, and again, hope that things work out well.

It could've been avoided, since the clues have been written all-over the place but the US governemnt ignored it.
I saw a documentary about this in National Geographic, but your leaders were not that much interested in it because they feel that it is impossible for the US airspace to be penetrated. Later on they knew, that those pilots who commandeered the plane that struck the WTC and pentagon were controlled by terrorists who took pilot lessons in US aviation training schools.

let us move on past911..we already been delt a blow that we shall be fighting for a long time all over the world to remedy..it would solve a lot of problems if they fouond out that this was not "staged" by the CIA or some other government agency ..but this is just bull...as the terrorist from another country or countries did all of the dirty work...Rosie O'Donald and the rest of these people are just taking a bad situation worse...think of all the theories that have come out and most of them are just that...just theories..I don't think most people believe these people but the young and niave and misinformed will..and that is a pity

I think it was staged, but anyway, if it wasn't staged, it could have been prevented. But it wasn't. Now its over and done with. It should have been prevented., but it wasn't. Lets not make a huge deal about it. It happened, and we can't change that.

Just another prime example of a huge beauracracy not doing it's job and inter departmental competitors fighting over who's jurisdiction is who's with no one taking responsibility for anything.
Even the secretary of state new of the "Warning signs" yet failed to notify the President of the circumstances that had been uncovered by the CIA and the FBI.

That could be true, anniepa, because I've heard all of the theories by now. What's important here, though, is that we no longer have truth in government, and it doesn't get much worse than that. The truth is only now coming out about some events that have occurred. I honestly hope that we will be able to once again find some comfort in the fact that we are not being constantly lied to by our government officials.
