I have seen them but I have never had a butterfly bush. I want to put one in our yard but our soil is so hard that we have trouble getting many plants to grow in it, even with my husband's green thumb. My sister however just bought a new house and she was surprised to find out that she had butterflies. I had to tell her that she had a butterfly bush in her garden, she had no idea. She has since added a hummingbird feeder and has both butterflies and hummingbirds just outside their office window. She does have one that seems to keep coming around and says she thinks of it as our mom stopping by to see her. I thought that was a nice thought too. So do you have a butterfly bush, and do you see a lot of butterflies as a result?

I have never heard of a butterfly bush? It sounds beautiful. Perhaps you can post a photo of one here! Then I can work out whether or not they grow in Australia.

I had two butterfly bushes at our other house but can't say that I truly liked them, I also can't say that they brought butterflies to our garden. At our current house I don't have butterfly bushes and have tons of butterflies and hummingbirds. I have a couple weigela that I planted and several honeysuckle that the neighbour beside me and the one behind us (one over) have planted- they both are over the fence. I like the thought of the butterfly being your mom stopping by to visit...that's fabulous and must be so comforting
