I've been playing WoW for about a week and I need help?

I've only been playing 2-4 hours a day max and I'm a level 16 Gnome warrior (I think?). Some questions I have are: 1) How do you get a pet? I see everyone running around with pets, but I don't even know how to acquire one. I tried some basic searches through WoW fan sites but what they said about acquiring a pet was VERY vague. 2) Where does the deeprun tram go? I've taken it to the El-something or other- forest. Does it go elsewhere? 3) What exactly are the expansion packs, and are they worth buying, and if so when should I buy them (meaning at what level)? 4) Whats the purpose for having more than one character? 5) Is my progress so far good? or am I a little on the slow side? I spent like 5 minutes trying to do my first trade down at storm wind and I felt like such a n00b 6) How long did it take you to get the hang of WoW? 7) On average how long do you spend on WoW? and finally... 8) Is it true WoW steals souls?

1) Only certain classes can get combat pets (i.e. pets that fight for you). Since you are a warrior, you are limited to pets that cannot fight. You can get an owl, cat, chicken, or something else small - there's actually a lot of choices, but they're only for looks. 2) The Deeprun Tram runs between Ironforge, the dwarf/gnome capital, and Stormwind City, the human capital. Nowhere else. 3) There is currently only one expansion pack, The Burning Crusade. There are two new races introduced (one for Alliance and one for Horde), but other than that the new items and areas are only accessible to higher-level characters. The earliest you can properly enjoy Burning Crusade content is level 58. 4) More character slots allow you to try different classes and styles. If you get bored of your main character, you can try an alternative, or 'alt', as they're commonly known. 5) You sound like you're doing well. Level 16 after a week is plenty good. 6) It took me a couple of months to really get into the swing of WoW. When I think back, I was still doing a lot of noobish stuff up until I was about level 30. 7) When it's installed, I spend several hours a day in WoW, usually 2-6. 8) Maybe. :o Hope that helps! Happy WoWing!

Good answers there Sedgwick :) Although another thing i might point out for #4 would be, your professions (mining, skinning, etc, which you should be learning about now, if not already). Some people like to have different characters so they can have access to more than 2 professions... it just means that if the auction house is being lousy & overpriced, you can jump on an alt & make some armour/potions/whatever instead of having to pay three times what they're worth. Provided your skill level is high enough... alternatively you could just use them for extra bank slots, but that's a lot of postage you'll be paying to send the items. Sounds like you're doing just fine so far! Oh, & if you wanted to go down the path of pretty pets (ie non-combat ones) there are various ways to go about getting them...auction house, drops off of mobs in certain areas, or some cities have NPCs that sell them (if you're Horde, there's the cockroach vendor in Undercity, or the guy that sells snakes in Orgrimmar, just for starters. don't know any alliance ones, sorry) Anyways, good luck, & have fun!

For pets on the Alliance side -- you can get cats in Elwynn Forest - at a house just outside of Goldshire; there is a moth dealer in The Exodar; parrot dealer is in Booty Bay; chickens can be acquired by "clucking" at a chicken in Westfall -- and, as mentioned before, you can also get most non-combat pets at the auction house.

Levelling up has been made easier too in the latest patch, u get more experience per quest and require less per level. So you should level up a lot quick than most people did pre patch :)
