I remember the time when I was hired in a fastfood chain as a servive crew. It was my first job. There's a lot of happenings during my first day as a trainee. First is that I didn't log in the employee's area., they laugh at me but it's ok because I'm a trainee. Honestly I don't know there's a thing like that, to log in. I was so nervous that time, I'm cold as ice, and I'm voiceless. Well I think it is a human nature, to get nervous... Next is they ask me to map the floor., guess what... I don't know how to use it., yes I don't know how to map the floor that time. It is so heavy for me., I'm a petite woman, the map is taller than me plus it is heavy. Gosh I lost my poise., Poise is not important to my job, I have to act as a man and do what they can do. Well I survived to that day. My first job is a wonderful experience, I learned a lot from them especially from my managers. They taught me how to give service with a smile and other things that I didn't do at home. I was thankful to the comapny I've belonged. They change my life and my views in life.

I remember my first job I was 15 and a half when I had my first job. I worked at mcdonalds because at the time it was the only job that I could get. That was a horrible job I truly hated it. I only worked there for a month before I quit. It was just to fast paced and they never tought me how to do any of the jobs which they yelled at me for it. It was a long time before I got another job because of that 7 years to be exact because I hated that job and thought all jobs would be as bad as that.

that was a really bad experience, arcidy. it is not that way that mcdonald's outlets do here in the philippines. the new hirees will undergo some kind of orientation. it may not be so much, but these trainings are really important. yes, i can see why you had been at a loss on what to do then. even now that i am quite of age and have been to various jobs already, i really need to be oriented to the new work which i am having. one will not know exactly what is expected of him if he is not being told about it. neither will one know what to do if there was no briefing about it previously. anyway, it is good to know that you have grown out of the trauma which you had from that job.

What branch is that? They must conduct first orientation before they bring you the working area. Well just like you I also had the experienced that I hated a fastfood. One branch in our area of a well known fastfood, I hated the attitude of my manager., that was my second job. She was so unprofessional, she forget about the right manners and right conduct. She don't know how to respect her crew, she also don't know how to approach it in a right way. Unlike my managers on my previous job, they are professional enough in everything. Well we have the right to criticize them and say if they have mistakes because we and our managers are both employee of the company we're working.

Hello jgen18jg17,
At least you came away having enjoyed your first job, and you learned a lot from it. I was not as lucky.
I graduated from high school in a very small town. I moved to the city. For a young girl that had never had a job, it was very scary. I was hired to be a server at a fast food place. It was a college hang-out, lots of male customers.
My training consisted of a copy of the menu, and very little experience. My first night on the job, I worked the grave shift. There was an experienced girl working with me, but she did not speak to me all night. I was left alone most of the time while she visited with these male customers. I was left to take payment for lots of orders.
I was so rattled that when I charged people for a meal, I charged for extra things that normally come with a meal. That company made lots of money that night. I waited to hear of my performance, but that did not happen for about 2 weeks. I actually went and asked when I would get to work again, and that is when I found out they had decided to fire me but had not told me about it.
I was deeply hurt and didn't understand why. Finally my cousin talked to the boss and came home and told me. I had over charged too many customers, and they had been embarrassed by my performance.
To this day, forty years later, I have never worked in a fast food place again. I vowed to never work again in a place where I would have to serve food to the public.

That was a bad experience., you've got a trauma. I think it is part of being a beginner, but your employer or your manager must be responsible for telling you your mistake. They are not a good example. I also remember when I become a casheir, It is not easy, you are responsible for the money. I mean I have to double or triple my care on giving change., Never to be afraid to work again, maybe it is just a lesson for you. We have to take it as a positive outlook. Don't think it as negative. Move on...

it is true that when we report for our first formal job, we will always feel that tingling nervousness inside us. everyone will understand the situation of somebody who is a first timer. that is the reason why everyone just simply laughed at your undoings on the first day.
i can still recall my first formal job. i got hired as an assistant to the psychometrician in the college where i enrolled in. i had to work for four hours mondays through saturdays during the morning only. there was so much typing to do. all i can recount was, i did one error after another such that on the first day, there wasn't much work that i have accomplished save for the pile of bond paper i have wasted as i went typing one unacceptable page after another. so much for newcomers to a job, eh?

Beginners can do much mistake but it is the only way for them to learn and perfect their task. There is nothing wrong if you had mistakes, what important is you learned from it and try to improve it little by little.

Gosh I rememeber my first job. It was in medical transcription and I was already 23 years old so you can imagine how excited I was to be finally working, even though the salary was very small. It only lasted 7 months before we were laid off, but I absolutely loved it. I would always volunteer to work overtime. I was actually working 7 days a week but I never felt tired because I was enjoying every minute of it. The people were great and I made lots of friends. Boy, those were great memories.

Enjoying is one of the secret to get long on your job. It is important that you like and you love the job your working. Money is just a reward for your nice performance. If your happy with your job the more chance to have a very good performance. Aside from being happy you are lucky of the knowledge you gain and the friends you meet. It is true that humans needs money for their living. But I beleived to the saying that "Human can live without money but they can't live without love." Love is important that anything else.

It is great that you get much experience on your first job. Then u have a bigger view compare with others.
My first jon is audit and account clerk which introduce by my friend. A lot of my friends work at there, so i also wish can work at there to get the experience and also won't feel bored as my friends also at there.
The working environment at there is very quiet. Everyone punch their time card when reach the office, then start working until the lunch time, as well as in the afternoon. Nobody can't be chatting unless discuss for the solution and seek the advise from the senior. The voice can be heard is photocopying the document voice, sound of air cond as they using the old type of air-conditioner and the telephone rang.
If talk more louder, the boss's sister will come and tell you that please low down the voice also. Can't switch on the radio too as it will disturb the staff concentrate on their works. What is that opinion like this??
But i also can learn many things at there. Then i just work at there for 2 years because i go to my further study.

That's nice to hear that you learned something from them. We have to understand ang adapt the environment of our job or else we can't get long to it and we will never enjoy our working days. I am lucky enough to have my first job as a good experience unlike others, but one thing I can say is, although others says that their job is not good, there is always a knowledge you can get from it. Enjoy your work and you will realize and see that there is something good happenings in your life. Work Hard.
