Don't just wait for a friend request, Send them! Rate your friends sites. Allow anyone to leave comments, if you want an amount of control, Put them on approval. Make as many themes up and open to viewing. Use the photo albums to your advantage, they don't have to be personal pictures. Have you got an interest, find piccies to match and a club too.
