Time is a nuisance as well as important to everbody.. When we are in a rush, we would say that time isn't enough.. But when we are waiting to knock off from work or sch, time will always be playing with us by moving very slowly.. So, in reality, are we controlling time or time is controlling us??? And what if we really had all the time in the world, wat would we do with it??

time is gold...that's what i know. its very important and precious to all of us for time when pass will not come back...
i don't think time can control us, nor we can control time...we are working hand in hand with time...
and time is always enough for those who knows how to use it properly.
and everything that we feel about time, that its moving so fast or moving so slow are just psychological & effect of our activity...
what if we really had all the time in the world? it will be boring...haha and we will just ended up wasting it! coz we will always be confident that we still have time later or tomorrow to do what we supposed to do now.

YEah, u are right upon that!! hehe ^_^
Time is good, just that we dunno how precious it is.. haha =D PLus, when one has got the mindset of having more than enough time, they will tend to waste it away.. And not knowing, time loss will never return, as well as the amount of things than be accomplished, while 'lazing it away'?? hehe
So, i believe mommy is a good time keeper huh?? haha =D Always telling me 'next time'.. lol =D

YEah, because time is always readily available, and thus we dun think that we are wasting it.. It's only till u are being forced into a corner, or something happens, then we will realise how much is being wasted in the past.. haha =D
PLus, doing of things, needs planning too.. PLanning takes time, and thus, with those wasted time, it can actually be put into good use, and for more usage as well.. hehe ^_^
lol =D I'm really right?? Maybe i can sense that in u, to guess it correctly.. haha =D What's the purpose of having a time keeper?? To keep ple in school after school hours?? lol =D

yeah, not many people realized the importance of time...we always think that we have lots of time ahead and so we have the tendency of taking it for granted...not knowing that a minute of laziness can actually result to failures...hehe
and that's why there are times that people are regretting the time wasted and saying...if i could only turn back time...
we must learn how to value time for its one of those things that never comes back when gone when gone ... just like with words & opportunity...
haha am i? well when i am in my grade school i am really the time keeper in our school! haha

Lol, if we have all the time in the world, I believe that after long periods of that, many of us would be so bored and would actually wish for time to be back where we are constrainted by deadlines and the rush for time. That is human nature, we always wish and dream of things that we could never achieve, but once that is achieved, we look back and wish for things of the past. It's ironic but very true!
Haha, it is just like what you had just said.. when we are in a rush for time, and rushing to cram in as many activites as we could in the limited time we have, we complain that time is never enough for us. But, on the flip side, when we desperately want something to end, or we are not plain interested in one thing that we are doing, we wish for time to go faster, and we complain that we have too much time on hand to waste. Ain't humans strange beings? Lol
So, is time controlling us or are we controlling time? It all depends on your own perception of things. I believe that we are the ones controlling time as we have someting that we call as 'Free Will'. Ever look back on your life, and wish that sometimes you had never wasted your time on doing something that turned out to be a failure? Or ever look back and wished that you had done something? That is when we lose our free will and do things just because others wants us to do..
When we have the conception that time is the one that's controlling us, that's a very sad thing. It's true that we have only 24hours to play around with each day, but how can something so intangible be controlling us when we are the ones who can make the decisions in life on what we want to do, and how we want to make full use of our time.
So.. time management everybody!! Manage your time properly and you will find for yourself a pleasant surprise that we are not the ones being controlled by time and in actual fact, 24 hours in a day is just enough for us to do the meaningful and important things in life. Take care!

Very very right ^_^ In fact, we should be the ones controlling time and not the other way round.. And if like u said, complaining about too much time when we have nothing to do, then we should find other things to do, so as not to waste precious time to laze around.. lol
it's laziness that causes us to lose track of time and also not setting our priorities right, thus we dun have much time ^_^

It all boils down to that one word - Time Management But, many of us can't practice what we preach. Lol, I admit I am one of them. But I don't have the problem with having not enough time even though I have very bad time management. Lol.

haha.. I'm different from u, i have good time management but at the same time, i will still rush myself thru, to see how well i can cope, under stress.. haha =D I will always make sure that i will have alot of time for other things and i will keep pushing myself, because i will prefer myself to finish things fast and early rather than late, so that i have time for last minute adjustments if needed ^_^

Bro , for me it's a bit of both .. I can say I control time and time controls me. Sometimes we are warped in time zones , as long as it's not the ozone layer getting thinner by the second , I don't really mind. K, I know that doesn't really work together , but the reality of it is I try not to look at the time too much because at the rate it is ticking , really bazooka fast.

haha =D YEah, it can be both, depending on how we work on it. Time can be fearful as well as useful, though it's often on the fearful side.. lol =D Time is really different from us humans. IF we keep looking at ourself in the mirror, it's hard to see that we are getting older, but it's not the same for time.. haha

Well, I guess I wouldn't say time is a nuisance, but then again if you'd understand the coming about of time then it's another story. I always find that 24 hours is just not enough as I've got so many things to do yet so little time!~!~

Hey Kun! Long time no see! How have you been these past two years?? I hope that you are doing fine! Do contact me!
What I would say about this topic that you have posted is that time is a man-made concept. In that case, how could we ever say that time is controlling us when the concept of time is first created by us, mankind. To put it bluntly, if the person who first created time dictates that each day is to be ruled by 36 hours per day, that concept would be the concept that we will be practising now, isn't it?
So in reality, we are the ones controlling time. Whether time passes slowly or way too fast is all in our minds psychologically.
We are in a rush due too poor time management. My personal belief is that no matter how much things we have or how little time we seems to have, it still boils down to how well we manage our own time.
I have seen students of mine who has no remedial classes, no CCAs to attend to, very little homework given by their school teachers and yet cannot do the homework set by me (about 2 to 3 pages) even when given 1 whole week to do so. Yet, there are also students who have marvelous time management skills (Mostly the foreign students) who had to attend numerous trainings (sometimes 5 days out of the 7 days in a week), remedial classes (as they are foreign students who have no knowledge of English, they have much more extra classes than their fellow Singaporean friends) and my tuition classes and yet, they can do about 100 pages of my work per day! (they even go way beyond the homework that I have set for them). How do these foreign students do it? It's a simple truth: the desire to succeed leading to them managing their time well to fit in these hectic and crazy schedule into their lives.
Now, looking at that, I would turn around and ask myself the same question, if a young boy of 10 years old is able to handle the stress generated by their hectic lifestyle and high demand of their parents and coach, why not us, the supposed to be responsible and respected adults? Time is always enough, just that it is up to us on how we can fully utilise it such that not even a single minute is wasted. Don't you agree with me on that?
Work or school is something that not many people enjoy doing. They would rather be out their playing. So long as something does not interest us or is a chore to us, psychologically we would feel the burden of it which in turn lead to a frustration that causes us to feel that time is moving way too slow. For those who do enjoy their work or enjoy learning, they would feel that time is moving way too fast for them to truly enjoy what they are doing.
It's ironic.
If we had all the time in the world, what would we do with it? Why not do meaningful things that could enrich our lives and help others at the same time? There are just way too many sad cases out there (cases of malnutrition, cases of abuse) that we can surely put time to help if we do not have the financial means to do so. In the process, we would also save / enrich another life.

Hello!! I've already contacted u! Hopefully i got the right number!!
Time is indeed a man made concept, and we are supposed to control it the way we wanted it, but too bad, it's not often the case. In reality, we are the ones controlling time, but the fact is, time refuses to listen to us and no matter how we timed it such that we will end up being short changed, because of other people in our life. Time is indeed equal to all, but it does not mean we cant take up other people's time while stretching ours? I think i'm a little lost in time here! haha
I agreee with everythin u said from the 5th paragraph onwards, because that's what i see as well, and even thought of doing. I've tried squeezing in as many jobs as i can in a day, and it's really tiring. That's one reason i guess why many singaporeans are complaining about lack of time to do things, because they are plain lazy.
When it comes to foreign students, they always have time for things because they know they have to do it, in order to survive and not waste money. To them, time is money and time is knowledge. BUt us, singaporeans? Time = relaxation, time = hanging out at cool and hip places, to be seen by others.
I've thought of doing meaningful things as well, with time definitely on my side! It's only that i want company!! lol =D So whenever i ask around, they would say it's a waste of time when they can be out watching movies, or hanging out with friends over a nice cup of coffee!! Isn't that a much waste of time??

Yeah, i realise u have grown up! More like what a mother would tell her children as well as different priorities in life now
haha =D Typical singapore parents! In the past, parents used to emphasized more on child's education, sending them to all sorts of enrichment classes, tuitions. BUt in the last few years, the trend began to change. Parents are not as 'kiasu' like before, instead they stand by their child more, allowing them to do what they feel like! I wonder which is worst?
With regards to primary school kids, it happened way back about 10 years ago. I remembered when i'm in poly, we have so many foreign students in class and they are always doing better than us locals. So who knows in the future, locals kids might be seen as 'foreign' students instead?? lol =D
U have quit your job for your son? I must say, it's a bold move on your side! BUt then again, it's worth it because your son only grow up once, having one childhood, if u miss it, u will not get to see it again ^_^ I'm on your side for this
Yes, stepping stone! Some of my friends even feel that those students only came to singapore for education. After which, they break the bond, return to their country. After all, they are rich families, if not how can they afford to study here right? SO singapore is just a backup or alternative route for them?? haha BUt even if they managed to get a USA green card or whatever, it does not mean their life would be better as a singapore PR.. haha
U might be surprised, yes! THere are alot more people of my age telling me that, especially those busy people. They dun see the joy of helping, while want to relax when they finally had time for themselves..

Uh oh! I just realised that I had replied to this discussion 2 or 3 years back. Lol, and my response then was much more different than my response of today. More serious this time?
Well, well, well ain't Singaporeans (especially the younger generations today) a whiny and soft bunch of people whom Foreigners especially look down on? There are many times when this student of mine just could not complete 2 pages of work in 7 days and whined to me during lessons that she just simply do not have the time to do it, even though she obviously has all the time to be playing on Facebook, updating her status and going out to many places. Needless to say, she has been failing all her subjects (in the 10-20 marks range) for all of her subjects. And the sad thing is that her parents support her and told me to relax on the amount of homework given. (well, would they want me to give 1 question for her to do in 7 days? It's way ridiculous).
Sad to say, most of the Primary school kids are like that in Singapore. I have yet to see one Singaporean kid who could prove me wrong. But I have seen many Malaysian and China kids who are way surpassing their Singaporean peers even when there is the language barrier of English.
I would have to say that the root of this is the government's policies that lead to the lack of time/resources for parents to play an active parts in their children's lives, rather leaving the responsibilities of raising their children to the domestic help who comes from improverished countries that do not really care for the well being of our children.
For myself, I am also slowly moving towards the goal of working from home just so that I could watch my baby boy grow up and yet have the chance to influence the way he learn and take part in moulding his personality. Hell, I had even quit my office job to become a full time, freelance tuition teacher who has instability in my income just to have that sort of time for him. Till now, it is working out.
Foreign students, hmm.. they have that sort of motivation as they see Singapore as a stepping stone for them to move on to better countries which will in turn lead to a better career move for them. I asked my China student this question the other day: WOuld you want to take up Singapore citizenship and why? He responded to me by saying of course! as it is easier for a pink SG passport to apply for citizenship in the USA, Australia or Europe and they are aiming for that.
What say you? Lol.
Do adults of your age actually says that? That sort of thinking is really so damn immature. They are many underprivilleged people who simply does not have that sort of luxury and well, isnt' a smile of gratitude from these people more worthwhile than spending money on let's say a movie where the thrill of it will run out in an hour or so??

Neither we control time, nor time controls us, it has to pass, but time passage is a relative term, when you are talking to a cute lady, 3 hours appear as 3 minutes and if you are not interested than 3 minutes is 3 hours,,
Thank you so much for sharing.

Hello kun2349,
I think we cannot control time to stop and wait for us but we can control how we used time with time management. If we have good time management skills you are in control of your time and your life. We would have less stress and have enough energy levels for each work to be done. You make progress at work or studies. You are able to maintain balance between your work, studies, personal, and family lives. You have enough flexibility to respond to surprises or new opportunities.
I think that's the only way we can control time but sometimes its pretty hard to do because we often times lack patient to learn time management. Actually I think we do have all the time in the world but its up to us what we do with it. Should we make good use of time or not and just waste it thats depends on your decision.
I think if one is given too much time on a certain task he/she would end up not completing it. Nothing would be accomplish for one usually will think there is still time to do it. Most people often times have the tendency to that and waste time. :-)

hi kun2349,i think if we have a good time arrangement skill,we can control time.if not ,we will be controlled by time.if we had all the time in the world ,i think things will change worse.it is likely that we will do nothing at all, because ,we always think we have enough time i can do it later.

I would have to say that time is controlling us. Even though we invented it, we have no control over it. If we didn't have it the world would be in complete chos. I mean, how would you know when your favorite tv show came on. Or when to go to work to support your family.

We cannot control time. I believe, we cannot manage time because it is constant in its length and pace no matter what. What we can only do is organize our activities to best use time.
The length of time given each day to the country's president or to Einstein or to an ordinary person is the exactly the same. But even if that is so, one may say that time is not enough and the other may say otherwise, because each individual's tasks/purpose is different from another..

yeah, agree with u..And also people sometimes tend to spend too much time on unnecessary things, after which say got not enough time.. But then again, if we dun spend the time, how would we know if its worth it right?? And i only know 1 thing, that is spending time on MyLot is definitely worth it because i get to see and learn from others ;)

Likely it is play most of the opposite and I do experience both something the time is controlling people not the way people could control it. In today busy world especially if you are living in a city life is so busy as you could observe people are busy doing their routine lives most of the times. It is like a repetitive cycles and so on with the next day. Until, you get to the point that you been tired that you start to stop for awhile and seek the rather quiet, isolated or maybe boring to other people to seek places where quiet and relaxing atmosphere conquest you..It gives an inner calmness and peace which is very absences in today materialistic world as human struggles to have a decent living as tend to forget to give pleasure to self that things which normally do becomes a sort of boredom..Though, being competitive in today world is a must in order not to be left behind it is like being involve in the survival of the fittest, the loser is no gainer, then the winner is always an achiever...

hahaha =D YEah, life to many ple, is just a normal routine, which they are getting sick and tired of now.. BUt they have not choice, as it means survival for them and their families.. haha =D
IT's only when they finally get some peace or time for themselves, only then they will realise, life is definitely alot more than just work.. haha =D
BUt i dun agree of survival of the fittest, loser is no gainer, while winner is achiever.. haha =D
Loser might lose on some things, but in return, they do gain more love, which is missing in the life of an achiever.. haha =D

yup,and if they fail to do it is bound to collapse which affected every aspects of their lives is ever depending on their repetitive tasks...
which gives them a lots of benefits with continue moving toward their goals in achieving it...
and since men/women only live and die once, it is a fact that life is so short that one need to make use of her/his time wisely spend on important matters definitely not sacrificing the family matter as well...
that really how tough the competition have become though by one another have to experience both being a loser and winner at the same time..
to learn more about the real aspects of life...

hi,
Time will never control us. It goes further and further. We have to get hold of it and control it. We have to utilize each and every moment effectively. You are right that it is nuisance and important to all. Time is not enough or playing all these thoughts are of your mind. It is not like that. Mind well the the time gone will never come back so be alert and enjoy it fully as it is precious.
