I would like for you all to pray for my family.
My grandmother is having what the doctors are calling TIA's (mini strokes). she is no longer able to stay by herself. She has always been a very independent woman, taking care of others, so this is not a good move in her mind. Her mind is still sharp as a tack!
Those of us who live in the area are taking turns staing with her, but I'm afraid that the strain is going to get to us all. Mostly because there are only 3 grandchildren here in town and one of them refuses to do anything to help.
The rest all live out of town, and try to come in on the weekends, but during the week, it falls to my brother and sister in law and my husband and me to take up the slack.
Thanks friends!

That is so true. I stayed with her last night. She got up this morning at about 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. She said her head was hurting really bad. We haven't been able to pinpoint that the strokes are coming with the headaches.

i appreciate it very much. She's a special lady, and she refuses to give up. We found out this week that her kidney's aren't working right, and she said well, I'll just have to dialysis twice a week. I'm not ready to quit yet. She still got fight left in her.

That is so hard, and is hard for all involved, even, I am sure on the one who refuses to be involved. Blessings to you. Are you guys trying to make plans for a care facility? I will pray for her right now, and for all involved.

She was in a nursing home after she came from the hospital the last time, for about 3 weeks, just until she was strong enough to get around by herself. She hated every minute of it, and got really depressed. That is a last resort with us at this point.

Thank you so much, you are all such dear friends. It's amazing that you all pray for me, and don't even know me other than here on mylot or gather. But I can feel the love and prayers that you guys send up for me!

I'm so sorry to hear about that. What about her friends or church members? Is there anyone else that could help out occaisionally? Would she be willing to spend some time at the senior citizen's center in your area? Maybe for an hour or two in the afternoons? They usually have lots of activities going on that she could join in, especially since she is still sharp. Also, it might help if she came to stay with one of you for a couple days, then you could take care of your business at home instead of always being at her place. Just some suggestions, hope they help.

She's not strong enough YET to go to the Senior Center. she would certainly enjoy that if she were. She got way down physically about 2 months ago and spent several weeks in the hospital and then another couple of weeks in a nursing home after that, building her back up. She forgot to eat when she was there by herself.

Hi Your grandma is in my prayer. I have survived 31 mini-strokes and had to learn so many things allover again and had someone to stay with me until I was able to things on my own. I am fine now and had so many people praying for me hope your grandma will be ok. Oh by the way they found what was caused my mini strokes a blood clot, so now I have to go and get my bloodwork done every other month just to make sure that I won't have the stroke again.

Grandma is on Cumadin. She had a blood clot in her lung this summer. It was scary. Everytime we take her to the hospital, we all think this is it....and she keeps pulling through. She told me this morning, that she is just tired now.

My grandfather has had so many mini-strokes (some from the result of a prior cancer surgery) that he is in the early stages of dementia. My grandmother is run ragged by him, and she has had 2 mini strokes herself. My uncle lives near them, but he is not dependable. My mom comes as often as she can, but she lives three hours away. I'll definitely be praying.

I have a couple of older cousins (My dad's age and older) that try to help, but some of them are in their 70's! My grandmother is almost 90 and has led a full and happy life. She tells me all the time that she's ready to meet her Lord. I'm the one that doesn't want to let go.
